I don't mean to pry...

I really don't!
In my opinion, someone's business is exactly what it is, their business!
It has nada, naught, and nil to do with me! Except....
Well, except when they spend a lot of time complaining to me about it.
Then, I feel kinda obligated to ask them how they're getting on with the said issue. You know, it's a social etiquette thing..
To show that I have been paying attention to what they've been moaning about.
Except, I got told "I ask too many questions".... Well.. I never!
Ever had any similar experiences? Or do you get annoyed by questions?

I can never get more than one question out of you at a time, and then you jet off to some exotic foreign country for three months! So I guess I can never tell you that you ask too many questions! HAHA

Hmmm... that sounds a bit rude, Wendy.... actually, if they've been regaling you with their problems, then it sounds more than a little rude.
I don't usually mind listening to someone complain about something, but I wouldn't normally ask them questions unless I didn't/don't understand something they tell me.... (Well, that's not quite true... If it is something I couldn't care less about, it goes in one ear and out the other with no processing in between.)
Quite honestly, unless they are a very good friend, I might not be listening to them. *shrug!*
People rarely tell me I ask too many questions.... Usually, I get just the opposite.... complaints because I don't ask any at all... I have to actually like someone before I ask questions.
I guess I am no help to you on this one, Dearheart. Sorry.

@vandana7 Quite honestly, vanny, that is the type of response I think the person deserves after wanting Wendy to listen to problems and then telling her she is being nosy! LOL! I bet they wouldn't do it a second time!

I didn't try to solve their problem. I merely showed an interest to their particular predicament. I asked how they're getting on with it..
Really you can't win with some people, if you don't ask, they will accuse you of not being interested in their issues or don't care.
If you do ask.. well you are clearly prying.

hahaha, yes I did share some not so subtle thoughts.. something like "if you don't want people to know about your business, then maybe you should cease talking about it".. xD

If someone is going to make their business yours, then they should have the decency to respond in a decent manner.
The only experience I've had on here is when someone wants to make my business theirs by asking every question they can about my life. That is annoying. If I don't tell you, I don't want you to know, simple as that.

agreed, persistent questioning on things you have no wish to disclose is very annoying
