Happy Dance! I'm Done! It's a Wrap!

Ready and Wrapped

To those who have been cheering me on. This is for you. Thanks for the encouragement! I'm finished! The last button was sewn on! The last wrapping was done! The Christmas gifts are all wrapped and under the tree. Last year I did t even go shopping until December 23rd. (I'll have to write about that experience later?) this year I'm ready with a week to spare. There will be no last minute rushing about. No worrying about what the weather will bring. Just the relaxation and enjoyment we all are wanting for this holiday season. There is some family that can use a bit of help...maybe this week I can pop by and encourage them as well.

Congratulations. To be able to breathe easy through the holidays must be the best treat of all. So, are you going to do any baking now that you have the time?

Well I hope you get a raving review from the doc and make it home in plenty of time to cook up some hot soup @Morleyhunt

The baking was finished yesterday. I can't believe I'm this organized. Now to go to the doctors appointment...and hopefully get home before the snow squalls start.

That's great, Morley. When I was young I used to get done by Thanksgiving and while I've bought many things in the summer months, I've still had to buy last minute things prior to Christmas in recent years. This year we're not doing much since I have to prepare to limited income during my knee replacement and recuperation time. I thought it was only the husbands that tended to wait until the last minute to do their shopping. I've never heard of a mom waiting before.

Last years circumstances were so unusual....my mother passed away on November 29..... My father moved in with us....(the overnight guest that didn't go home)....and he does not observe Christmas.......and he didn't like to be home alone.....

@Jackalyn my brother, who also does not observe Christmas generously? Offered to take him for a few days. He picked him up around noon on the 24th and returned him to me around 10 AM on the 27th.

If I put mine under a tree yet a certain cat might get ideas. She is very playful when not sleeping..

@Morleyhunt I also like to place the gifts under the tree, they create a beautiful setting. Thanks for the photo, is beautiful.

Not just wrapped...it's under the tree. We don't do Santa Claus, so rather than try to find a safe place...the wrapped gifts add colour under the tree.

No everyone important is taken care of. I've learned not to just keep buying and wrapping,...because for the most part none of us need more "stuff"in our homes.

@Morleyhunt That's very true. It really is about togetherness and friendship not endless, expensive gifts that aren't really needed.

@Jackalyn last years Christmas was strange. We had a good time, but it was far from a "normal" Christmas. Hope you get a chance to relax and recharge.

Last year I didn't think I would get it done at all. It was mostly a one shot deal...with a three year old in tow. I think I'm alluded to that Christmas enough that a post about it is overdue.

I think for the first time in decades, I am fully finished and ready for Christmas ahead of schedule! I do have one gift that hasn't arrived yet, but it's already shipped so I'm confident it will make it in time for Christmas. If not, I won't stress about it. It's time to enjoy the holidays!

@DeborahDiane thank you. Today I took the time to get caught up on the 150 Canadian Women quilt I'm working on. I had 8 blocks done with 9-15 waiting for my attention. Now the first 15 are done.

It is a nice feeling, knowing that I don't need to stress. I can enjoy singing in the church choir......watching the children's Sunday school program, attending one of the granddaughters school performance and not rushing hither and yon.

My mom dropped off some material and I may manage to get one or both skirts made from the assortment, but I may need to go to plan B. That is hit up the local thrift store for a ladies full skirt in a suitable color.

Congratulations u have all done. We have many festivals in a year and in every festival we invite close friends and family. 1 month Before the start of festivals, we make guest list, food menu to be served and then list of ingredients available at home and ingredients to buy from the market. Just a week before, we started deep clean of house and then we distribute work among family members for decorations and recipes making. Icecream and any sweets are the default part of our menu that we always prepare a day ago. All above not only required physical work but also a lot of mental work. This is not end up here, what about cleaning after festival is over??? I'm thinking about this and it makes me laughed.
