I was going to buy my granddaughter a toy

I saw a toy called Bunch 'Ems in the store the other day and thought it looked like a lot of fun. They're lots of little balls with spikes that stick to each other and you can build things with them. The price was a little steep, $24.99, so I decided to wait and look up reviews of it first. Wow! One review I saw is entitled "A toy spawned in the darkest depths of Hell" and was a scathing critique detailing how they stuck in her child's hair and they had to cut them out. Another said they stick to pets and one person's cat was hurt when he got one in his mouth. The pictures the reviewers included with their reviews show girls with a LOT of bunch 'ems in their hair, as it they put a bunch of them there on purpose. Just what my granddaughter would do! I think I will not get that toy.

Glad I read this because both my daughter's wanted them...not happening now! I didn't even think about them getting stuck to everything else like that.

Then I'm glad I posted this today!! It's nice to know I helped somebody. But they look like so much fun! What a shame they can hurt animals and get stuck in hair.

@dragon54u Yeah we have 2 dogs so that would be a really bad idea.

If a toy can entertain for a long time and stand up to what children do, they are sometimes worth the money. Most don't quality.

Most toys entertain for an hour or so and then that's it. I was really interested in the Bunch 'Ems but I'm sure the first thing she would do is get one stuck in her hair. It's hard to find a good toy these days.

@dragon54u Yes, it is hard to find good toys. Maybe we should all go back to the old ways.

This is a bug to design the toys like that It is more like a suitable prank for April Fool I am curious what you bought for your grand daughter at last. Is it a toy?

@dragon54u Legos, books or dolls are good gifts for children.

I have not decided what to by my little granddaughter yet. I want something we can play with together. I might get her some legos of regular size instead of the chunky blocks she has now. I have a few days to think about it.

I like to get her creative toys that use her imagination. I'd love to give her tinker toys but I think 3 is a bit young for them, she would poke the dog and use the sticks for digging. I hope I find something cool. It seems that most of the toys on the market today are cheaply made and require batteries and no imagination!

Agree with you. Please don’t buy that for your granddaughter. Some toy is not good for the children I thought, so before buy it, check it first.

I always check before buying. I did that with my own children, although there was no internet back then and I had to go to the library! Children are too precious to take chances with.

@dragon54u I am a grandmother too, so I know what you thought before do it for the children.

Some times doing research about something is a wise thing to do before buying something!! Don't sound like it would be a very "fun" toy after all!!

No, because the first thing she usually does is play with something the wrong way just because she's stubborn as well as creative. I'm sure they'd be in her hair within the first minute!

If they got BAD reviews, then don't buy. Good move though, wished I had done when my nephews and niece were young.

If it is true, that's quite a stupid toy.

Good call. I never heard of this toy. It should be recalled.

I think maybe the appropriate age should be raised. It says 4+ and maybe pre-schoolers don't have the judgement to play with it properly.

So sensible of you to wait to read some reviews. This looks a great toy on the outside but obviously there are a few problems. Have you found something else instead?

No, not yet. She just turned 3 and will get tons of other gifts so probably won't miss one from me if I don't find anything. I'll be looking this week, though.

@dragon54u I hope you find something. I would often buy books especially if the family weren't great readers. There is so much choice now I'd be absolutely flummoxed about what to give.

Good that you waited first. Sounds dangerous to have around little kids.
