Story Time: I forgot my towel! + How often do you change out your towels?

A few days ago, I took a shower and when I finished showering.... I didn't have a towel to dry myself! I forgot to grab a towel before going in the restroom! Oh ...what to do? A - Use the towel already on the floor B - Use my new clothes to dry myself C - Toilet paper to dry myself? (ha!) D - Use my phone to call my mom whose in the kitchen to get me a towel? E - Run outside to get a towel quickly? I went with D, I went to go call my mom and asked if she could bring me a towel. How often do you change your towels? Like the saying 'nothing lasts forever', some items we may overlook that do expire are: towels, pillows, disinfectants, rubber bands, bras, sunscreen, fire extinguishers, & etc. It is recommended to change your towels every few years as bacteria can build because towels get moist and in the wash doesn't necessarily kill all the bacteria. How about you? Reference links: - - http://www.simplemost.com/8-common-items-you-didnt-realize-have-expiration-dates/
The old saying goes, "Nothing lasts forever." When the subject of shelf life comes up, more often than not, many people think about food -- you know, perishable items. Some people hold fast to the date stamped on the product to prevent spoilage and potenti

Same as @DianneN I wash our towels after each use. I replace them often because I have plenty of them, so they last many years. Those I use more, after about 3 years become rags that I can use to wash the car or in the garden.

Yes, I have a pile of towels in the basement that are used for the car, the garden, and to wipe Doodles feet when he comes in with wet paws. Lol!

I wash our towels after each use. I replace them often only because I like variety. The better quality the towel, the longer they last. Same thing with the other things you mentioned. I would have chosen option D, too. Lol!

@infatuatedbby Lacoste is my favorite, next to Frette. Good colors, too! I refuse to buy Martha Stewart anything. She had a house in my brother's town and was a nasty, mean woman.

I never bring my phone whenever I go to the restroom. I always leave it in my room. So option D is impossible for me to do. Also I never bring my new clothes when in the restroom..

I run outside to get the towel quickly. Of course you have to look left and right if there is someone outside the bathroom.

I started using vinegar in my towels to keep them fresh. The vinegar kills any bacteria that may build up. Also if you use white towels you can bleach them.

@infatuatedbby It also helps to soften them.

Mine get used once then tossed in with the laundry. I do hand it up so it dries out and doesn't get a funky smell but I never reuse towels

Hard to believe you remember to bring your mobile phone but forget to bring your towel for shower Since I always have the dry towels in the bathroom, so I am not afraid of forgetting to bring it inside. If I were you, I might go outside quickly and get my towel secretly.

@youless Ha-ha. No I don't use my phone in the bathroom, or shower. I just have it on the counter. About a decade ago, when I was home alone, someone tried to rob my house. Now that I have cameras and alarm system, I can open the app on my phone before existing the bathroom to feel more secure. And of course for emergencies if I need to call someone for help (which I have not needed to but just like a towel though) lol.

I never realized we are supposed to change out our towels. I have white towels. When I wash them I use bleach. Shouldn't the bleach disinfect the towels and kill all the germs and bacteria? I would imagine that with bleach included in the wash, the towels should be able to last for years and years.

We launder our towels once a week and replace them not nearly as often as we should. We've talked about replacing them all, and have for the towels my boys use when they're home, but my missus and I are still making due with the old ones.

We usually keep our old towels to use on our dogs, who swim every day in the summer.

That would be handy. We keep the old towels encase of water spills, floods, cleaning the car, or for something that usually comes handy. But for our bodies, we change them out when needed.

I like the feeling of the new super soft towels, but I can understand comfort. For a fleece throw I have (blanket), I love my old ones over my new ones.
