While doing my blog today, I came across some amazing sand sculpturing.
Some of the images blow my mind away.
"Sand Art is the practice of modelling sand into an artistic form, such as sand brushing , sand sculptor, sand painting or sand bottles." Wikipedia.
Can you imagine these majestic pieces of work comes from two basic building blocks - SAND AND WATER ?
This is so popular that they actually have competitions? Did you know?
Have you ever tried to build something from the sand when you visited the beach?
Did you know some people offer their services professionally, if you want to build something by the beach. Cool, isn't it?
The picture is credited to the internet (of a dragon with a sort of castle on its back).
What do you think of sand sculpturing? Have you seen it before?

@Gita17112016 I have seen people making sand sculptures in the United States and they only used sand and water.

This is the first for sand sculpturing for me. According to the Wikipedia they only use sand and water...how amazing. Some of the pieces looks like it is carved out. My sand just crumbles. I love the ice ones too.

@LadyDuck That's what I am wondering...how does it all stay together? And have the bronze finished look? I have tried but after it dries, it all begins to crumble. Do they beat it down to get it compact?

@Gita17112016 I would think if there are sandy beaches in Trinidad that there will be people there scupting at some point.

@TheInvisibleMan That's exactly what I thought. How did they manage this ? And only with sand and water? I have tried. Mine collapses stupidly.

@averygirl72 I have no idea. Some sculptors actually seem baked. Must be where the 'skills' come in.

I just came across it in the net. At first it was just ordinary but it began to become so complex and intricate that I was impressed despite myself. It piqued my interest.

@Madshadi I think they have very big competitions...so there must be a money prize. Also people do hire their skills out.If I were liming by the beach with my coworkers, I would hire someone to do this art...just for the novelty of it!

@Gita17112016 From the net. The detail and time consumption just making one is crazy. And then to have the water or waves come along and destroy it is sad. For the artist that does these has a lot of time on their hands. I don't think they even get paid for doing them do they?

@nanette64 From what I understand there are competitions set up and I presume some kind of prize is give...with coverage. Then there are those who hire out themselves to sand sculptor as a living. Must be worthwhile .

Here in India, the coastal cities like Bhubaneshwar and Puri and many more offer such spectacles as the one in the picture above. They are really magnificent to look at. Yes, we have sand art competitions here in India as well. Truly wonderful indeed!

@Gita17112016 Unfortunately no. I personally have never seen them but my mother has seen them a lot many times. I don't think they last for too long: sand and water is all they are made up of.

@The_Bong_Woman I wonder what motivates the artist, then. I would hate to spend all that time creating something and then lose it to the sea waters.

Pretty wild what some people do with their time. Although, some of those types of are don't last to long and are simply not permanent. Lot of time to spend on something that simply will not last.

I must check on the time these things last. I know they keep competitions and the area is roped off. Some of these sculptors also look durable.Pity they will disintegrate at some time. But amazing artistry and creativity.
