My Favorite Photo from 2016

This is a photo I've been wanting to take for years, but until a week ago I never had the chance. We were on our way home from our Christmas trip to see friends on Christmas Eve and my brother and his family on Christmas Day. We stayed in motels both nights, so I didn't sleep well. I am used to my bed at home. We left Orange County, California, a little before noon on the day after Christmas. We had not yet encountered any real traffic during the entire trip. We had to waste at least an hour in Thousand Oaks at the Volvo Service Center finding out why the Check Engine Light was on. It wasn't serious and they didn't have the parts, so we continued on our way home. Because of the delay, it was almost sundown when we started through Ventura. About that time my bladder gave notice that we should stop and find a restroom. I could see the sunset would be a beauty. As we turned off the freeway and headed toward the beach, I asked my husband to stop and let me out so I could take this photo I'd always wanted. The timing was perfect. I considered it God's Christmas present to me. Did anything with special significance happen to you or for you over the holidays?

I agree. Things like this don't happen when I try to plan them.

Its a beautiful one - captured for you as a gift - but every evening there is some magic in the sunset - gifted just for you

I agree. I wish there were room to show off more of them here. I take a lot of shots almost every night.

Lucky you. I love seeing new scenery, but I really hate the act of traveling from one place to another with a time to be somewhere.

It was just too beautiful to drive past without getting the photo. I'm sure the others were also enjoying it and getting pictures.

You should have watermarked your photo so no one could use it without your permission. It's a good shot and nice composition

Nope. My husband was with the car, since there was nowhere to really park and leave the car.

Thank you. I did feel a bit like it was a special prize, but I didn't do anything to earn it and could not have made it happen. Only God could make it happen.
