The difference is, in your area, cars are usually equipped for the winter. An inch of snow here and everyone's sliding around in it all over the place - the same tires are used all year round, and snow chains are something you decorate a snowman with...

Here some do have snow tires. Some just use all seasons. In Quebec they are allowed studs in their tires but here in Ontario they are banned. I got snow tires. Also, winter tires help you out with the snow, not as much for the ice. Ice is usually slippy no matter what

Me too. It was raining slushy like stuff, now the temp has gone down. It's going to be a nightmare.
