Which prayers does God answer?

A favourite team is playing an important game and a person prays that it will win. A lotto that has a big jackpot is taking place and a person prays that they will win. Two countries are engulfed in a war and the soldiers on each side are praying for victory.
Every day, probably billions of prayers are being said. Do you ever wonder which prayers does God answer?
Do we pray? Do we ever wonder if God answers prayers or whether he will answer our prayers?
Luke 21 is an eye-opening chapter in the Bible.
Here are a few intriguing verses. Luke 21:25-28 King James Version (KJV)
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
The last ting Jesus says in this sermon is verse 36 about the importance of praying. King James Version (KJV) Luke 21:36
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
What are your thoughts and observations about prayer?

I have found if I pray the standard format of prayer ..like Our father in heaven...and similar prayers in our literature, my mind happily goes galavanting. But if I reflect on what I want, and how I feel, I am able to relate better with god. So it is pretty one is to one prayer for me, mass praying may be good I mean I do enjoy those jagrata's out here, but end up talking about mundane things.

Jesus told us not to repeat the same thing over and over when praying but we should talk to God from our hearts and in our own words.

@1hopefulman yes. And sometimes we wonder when it will be answered. It will be answered in God's perfect time.

Yes, I also think so! The team with the better players has the better chance of winning. God does not take sides in those issues. God is not partial.
And those that make wars would be wise to pay attention to his words in Isaiah 1:15 King James Version (KJV)
15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

@1hopefulman I really don't know what to believe but I think praying for important things rather then trivial things is probably a good rule of thumb..why waste his time if its not very important.

@shaggin God loves to hear us speak to him, just like a parent loves to listen to their child. He wants us to talk to him about everything. He is all ears and is never pressed for time. Let's not forget that prayer can be about more than asking, they can also contain our thanks for the many blessings that we have each day.

@1hopefulman perfection again!! It will be in accordance with his purpose. Back to the question of why doesn't he eradicate disease? The time is not yet.

Could it be God is busy all the time so He can't answer all the prayers all at once? That's maybe the reason why we need to pray continuously asking God to hear us and notice us

I don't think that is a problem for God. Think of all the stars, blades of grass, fingerprints or snowflakes that exist and no two are alike. Some stars are so big that they don't fit between the sun, which is 93,000,000 million miles away, and the earth.
Remember when Jesus cured thousands of people of all their illnesses in one scoop.
Remember when Jesus fed thousands of people with a few fishes and a few loaves and they ate and were satisfied and they had baskets of leftovers.
Remember when God fed millions in the wilderness and their clothes and shoes did not wear out.
Nothing can limit the Almighty!
However, he has some requirements and he has his timing as to which prayers he will answer and when.

@averygirl72 One person recently told me that most people view God as a divine Santa Claus. They want this and they want that. When they don't get what they want when they want it, they stop believing.
However, people of faith, try to understand God's will for our time and only pray according to his will and are patient knowing that God will provide what they really need.
1 John 5:14-15 King James Version (KJV) 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

God hears the prayers of those who know Him as Saviour--Jesus is the link between us and God. Without that link, He does not hear. He most certainly does not answer prayers as the one you describe above--as the Bible also says:
“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4:3
