Today many people have the communications by some social apps. It is OK for me. But I always prefer to have the text message rather than the voice message. Since I have to get it close to the phone so that I can hear it if I am outside. Besides, I may even have to put on my earphone as I don't want others to hear it. And it also spends me longer time to finish listening all the voice messages.

I use WhatsApp and have noticed that more and more peole are sending voice messages instead of texting and I don't like that either for the same reasons as you. I prefer that they phone rather than sending a voice message. I am happy to text baxk when they send a voice message but they don't seem to get the point and reply with another voice message!

You better buy a new mobile phone, then you would be in a better position to conclude which is better. I think you know it very well - "taste of pudding is in eating".

I prefer a conversation and not just a voice message. SMS is a way of life and I like to send and receive messages.

as far as "leaving messages"; yes, I prefer the text-message. But--since I usually have to call because I 'need' to know whether I have someone to drive me someplace (in Oklahoma City, places are usually too far-away to walk)--I prefer live audio-conversation rather than 'message-tag' (where I leave a message, wait for them to leave me a message, then call back to tell them I got their message about my message ...)

@youless But if I had a car, then 1) it would STILL be just as-complicated but 2) I would have to handle EVERYTHING.

If need arises I prefer to send text messages only, I do not send voice messages. I agree with your view point that voice message may contain something which may not be for consumption of others.

@youless Everyone of us has a unique voice, you need not under estimate quality of your voice.

Much prefer text messages too. Sometimes the voice ones are not that clear as you can have background noise that stops you from hearing it all properly so text messaging is much better for me.
Later on will be getting a new phone at long last and see how that one works for me as the one I have is on its last legs so to speak.

Already chosen it have to wait to get the money and that is it. I need a better phone as I have to do papers and I have to keep going a long distance to do them and the Parking is atrocious any given time of the day so we both have to keep in touch by phone to say where we are and how long I am going to take. Which is something that I never know about either.
DonĀ“t care much for expensive phones I am having one that is good and easy to use and reliable as being in that City I will use a lot of battery.

When I'm talking to people from a different country, I prefer messaging apps. But when I have to talk to somebody from my country, I call them. I hardly use sms.

@youless Messaging apps has now turned into what they call text messaging but text messaging is just actually what used to be SMS. Short messaging service. However, messaging apps is a form of online chatting.

I prefer text to calls or voicemails. For me they are easier and if I want to stop talking to the person I just don't reply back or tell them I am busy and will message them later if I have the time. Phone calls get awkward when you are still on the phone and don't want to be anymore.
