Bumpy Plane Ride

I generally don't like flying. But flying during the winter is even worse. With bad weather conditions, flying is really a nightmare. I had to fly this morning and it was a short 2 hour flight but it was the most terrifying one I've had to date. The pilot announced he could not land the plane due to fog and snow so they were having the plane land through autopilot with guidance from traffic control. It was the bumpiest landing I've experienced and I really thought we would crash. Thankfully it was okay and we made it.

@TheInvisibleMan I am terrified of plane crashes and also everytime I fly it seems the turbulence gets worse.

That would be a bit scary. I wonder if the autopilot was scared? I'm glad you're down safely.

I've never had a really bad flight thank goodness, but flying is the best way to get from A to B if it's a long distance.

Of course, it is very practical but during winter storms I will try to avoid it in the future

@tzwrites A bit of turbulence lets you know you really are flying. I flew a lot as a child in the 60s when things were a lot bumper and modern aircraft are quite uneventful usually.

True, but this was extreme turbulence even the baggage compartment opened up and some bags fell down

Oh my. I just made a topic about airplane rides and this one is the perfect example of some scary experience. But for sure this one is an isolated case and it not happen all the time. I just need to understand it.

It is surprising how resilient planes are. My daughter is cabin crew and she has told me some horrific stories but we still go flying. I have only ever had one really bad flight flying from New York to Niagara Falls. It was really bad!
