Good morning. We woke with frigid weather.below zero.
Now about the pie.It was very good.
going to make a few adjustment on it.Less cinnamon.
On a serious note.Having friend improves health.
We have many elders who do not have friends at all.
They are lonely and even can cause of death.
More bad news.Greater chance of memory loss, strokes, etc.
@Hately keep her self busy writing here.I am sure that this keep her going.
We are her friends and knowing here she appreciated.
Not sure if she has a special friend there.
Also, elders or couple should socialize more if they can.
AARP is saying that this health threat is similar smoking 15 cigarettes a day
Not sure how they come up with this.
But I do believe we need friends and socialize more.
The photo as you can see .Eating a slice of pie with whipped cream.
Thank you for reading. So let us stay on the healthier side and socialize, friends, volunteer etc.

I do agree with keeping the mind active and socializing is very important as we age. I know a lot of older people don't have anybody and spend so much time alone. It is hard on them.
Patsie is a dear friend on here. She is so smart for her age. I admire her being here every day chatting, writing poems and stories. She is a class act.

I guess I am dying young. I hate socializing and my lack of friends show it. lol That is what the dogs are for. For real, it is true that good friends keep you healthy. Not those fake ones though.

These are all good points. Yes, we need to get out and socialise. It takes us out of ourselves and gives us something else to think about.

May I have ice cream with my pie instead?
I'd love to take this to my aunt in the nursing home and read it to her, but she's content to lie in her bed and die.

Cinnamon - with pears...not sure that is a combo I would like. Pears have such a delicate flavor and cinnamon is harsh. What other spices are in it? Great photo of you and your pie!

We have a habit of calling the elderly and talking to them for however they want to talk on the phone, you are right, some elderly have no friends just because they are old on the outside. People dont get it that we all stay young on the inside.

What a great picture, and I agree completely! I've always been the antisocial kind of person, introvert lifestyle, but when I get the courage to be around people who make me feel good, it definitely makes me feel better. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

I agree with socializing to improve your health. But true friendships are hard to obtain now a days where I live.

It is so hard for many people who are older or disabled to have friends and people they can talk too. Many times that is why they are active on Facebook and sites like this. But when we take Time to befriend them in person we make both lives better.

I agree it is good to have friends, I do think that not only includes friends in the real world but also online friends are good to have.

I thought you were saying that your friend that would keep you healthy was that piece of pie, Alfredo, until I read the whole thing of course.
I'm sure that's true, not so sure about the comparison with smoking, but having friends in the real world if possible and online too should help a person not get depressed for one thing.
I personally like apple pie with a bit more cinnamon than what my husband tends to use, but we'll probably try to stay away from that for a while and see if that helps us stay healthier too.
