It's All Fun and Games until Someone Breaks a Nose

My poor 6 year old grandson called me last night to tell me that he was sledding and having fun. All of a sudden, an adult crashed into him on her sled and broke his nose.
People were wonderful. One man gave him his clean hanky. Several people comforted him. A taxicab, actually many, was summoned to drive him, his sister, and his mother to the hospital. One person tracked down the name and address and delivered my grandson's gloves to the doorman of his building.
Today he sees a plastic surgeon. I am waiting.
People in NYC can be so wonderful!

Aww that was nice people showed so much care! Poor kid what a terrible thing to happen when having fun :-( I broke my tailbone for thr first time when I was sleigh riding about 10 or 11 years old. I'd rather my tailbone then my nose as less people see my tailbone.

I broke my tailbone too when I was younger. I was pushing one of my siblings in a grocery cart and I had it tipped back and Wham down I went and hit right on my tailbone. The only time it really bothers me is if I sit too long. But a broken nose O my I can't imagine that as the nose is so tender. I had surgery on my nose I had a deviated septum and I was surprised it didn't hurt all that much, praise be to God!

I hope his sweet little nose will be as good as new soon, when I think of all the things we did as kids I do wonder how we ever survived!! My crew was up in Vermont tubing!!

@infatuatedbby The plastic surgeon popped his nose into place. They have to watch it to make sure it heals. If not, he will need an inside rhinoplasty. He calls it his epic crash, so he's happy! Lol!

You hear great stories like this all the time about the people of New York City, yet they still have a bad rap as being rude. I've never had a bad experience around New Yorkers. I hope your grandson's nose will be okay.

@DianneN I'm glad to hear he is okay and has a great attitude about the entire ordeal!
I got lost in NYC one time, and I was sitting on the subway trying to figure out what to do. A couple of thug-looking characters approached me, and I was convinced they were going to mug me because I stood out like a soar thumb as a tourist. Instead, they offered to help me, and personally took me to where I was trying to go, which happened to be on the complete other side of Manhattan!

@moffittjc Now that is a nice ending to an otherwise scary situation, especially on the subway!
Thank you. My grandson is doing well considering, thank goodness!

I suppose there are bad apples in every bunch, but these people were unbelievably kind. My experiences in NY have been wonderful. I married a New Yorker! Lol! My grandson had his nose popped back into place today and will keep an eye on it. He calls his mishap an epic crash, so is back to his old self.

That is so good to hear, not the nose breaking, but the reaction of the people in NYC. He will remember that sledding for a long time.

That really is wonderful. The caring people, not the fact that he broke his nose. It will be a story he will be proud to tell for many years.
