This morning my daughter said something and I said this saying jokingly. She said how stupid it is because some people can't smell things so the saying isn't true. She took it very literally lol
I said how it is a dumb saying and that all it does is blame someone else for our actions to embarrass them.
Just points out how simple things like this when we are young carry into adulthood.

@jaboUK others here have not heard it either so you are not alone. Now you have learned a silly thing to say if you pass gas. @Orson_Kart that is a good come back. I tended to not think of witty replies and would just swear at them lol

I don't know that I'd heard the saying before, but I did hear the sentiments when younger. If she was disagreeing because of someone that can't smell, then that person wouldn't have smelt it anyway and it would be a moot point. Not sure what she was disagreeing with.

I never say it as it but its okay if you do. I was telling my daughter this saying based on something she said to me which lead to her telling me how stupid this saying is ha ha.
