What's Your Favorite Soup?

I like soup and make my own quite often. Usually it's vegetable soup but sometimes I get advantageous. That means basic broth and anything that's left over in the refrigerator or hanging out in the pantry. But once in awhile I get froggy and try something new. Today I made a red pepper and cauliflower soup and it was quite good. I also have been having the urge to try my hand at some Thai-inspired soup. Do you make your own soup? What's your favorite? Do you like to try new recipes sometimes? My favorites will always be either vegetable or pea. I saw a butternut squash soup recipe online today but it took heavy cream which is way too fattening for me :(( Now some good old music -
Nat "King" Cole - Frim Fram Sauce. Dedicated to "Klaatunes" who is always making me hungry with his marvelous culinary appetite.

Potato soup is good. I tried to make a potato-leek soup but it didn't come out all that great. I'll have to try again.

This is a really easy one... though it might seem boring. Mine is thick and creamy tomato soup! Add a grilled cheese and I'm in heaven!!

A friend at church once made a turkey noodle soup that had to be the best soup I've had. I love clam chowder, but without the potatoes.

Some people just have that special touch when they cook. I'm not a big clam chowder fan though I do like a good seafood chowder.

Mine would be cream of mushroom soup but my Asian genes are crying for Wonton noodle soup eaten with dumplings. I guess I have split personality

Oh - I love cream of mushroom soup too. I like all the Asian flavors and just made a hot and sour soup that came out pretty good.

I do like soup. I make mine own on ocassion, and it is a good way to stretch a dollar. I would say any kind of bean soup is my favorite. I also love a good split pea soup, that might actually be my favorite.

I have been improving my chicken soup recipe lately. I like adding various vegetables instead of rice and some spices as well. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, as long as it's easy to find the ingredients. Sometimes I am reading some recipes with ingredients that can only be found in special organic stores and I am too lazy to find all of them.

@suziecat7 If it's one ingredient or two, it could be modified with a some improvisation. But it's still not the same recipe.

My wife makes several very good homemade soups. My favorite is her French Onion Soup. Hers beats any restaurant FOS I've ever had.

I am not a big fan of soup - but to answer your question - if I made it the choice is chicken noodle. If I buy a can it's lentil.

@suziecat7 Yes, and I like it raw as well. I saw on America's Test Kitchen (or Cook's Country they or basically the same thing) where they made a creamy cauliflower soup without using cream. If I remember right, they took some of the cauliflower and put it in the blender and creamed it. So they had chunks of cauliflower and well as the creamy soup. They have people come in the taste it then asked if they thought cream was used and they all said yes. But there was no cream or milk in it.

My two favorite are vegetable beef soup and potato soup. Of course, I have substituted other meats in for beef during the years. I love a good bowl of soup with cornbread. Hubby loves grilled cheese with his.

We make soup on a regular basis and have soup several days each week. Vegetable with a tomato base would probably be the favorite here. All soups we make are vegan/vegetarian.
