Oh! Tree of my love,
Shade to my summer moments,
In the lush gardens
Of my dewy dreams.
When time bonded us
Strong and deep;
In the cool breeze,
As your leafy branches swayed -
My love, how we danced,
Till the shadows grew long.
Now sitting in the fall,
My heart, it feels
The languid grief;
My soul, it knew not,
The desolate coming thus.
But I wait amid the stubble
For your leafy branches sway
And the shade to fall sweet
On the longing land around.
For deep runs, my love,
The roots of our tree
Whose bough majestic
Will hold yet
Many a blossoming sprig.
