The Mystery of Lost and Found Cellphone

My son went to the comfort room of his office building to wash his hands. But as he walked toward his office, he noticed his phone was not with him and remembered that he left it near the sink so he immediately went back to the CR. But the phone was not there anymore and there was nobody there. So he went to the Security Department to report the incident.
My son together with the Security Officers went back to the Comfort Room to search again but found it not. A Security Officer tried calling the missing phone and it was ringing. The missing phone was apparently inside the comfort room because they could hear it ringing. They all tried to trace where the ringing sound was coming from.
Eventually, it was found in the garbage can of one of the cubicles. It was topped up by tissue papers. My son did not use that cubicle so it was obvious that someone hid it there. My son was so thankful that that person was unable to turn off the phone before hiding it, otherwise, goodbye cellphone. But who was he?
Have you lost something and was able to get it back?

no, i have not YET lost a cell phone, but my cellphone was stolen when i was the HN. that Nokis cellphone was so precious to me because it was given by my brother.
it was the Nokia 3310, and it was the latest model in 2002.

@louievill That was exactly what my son told me, the suspect did not know how to turn it off or even how to take off the battery. Thank God!

One logical reason is he did not know how to.

If there is a cctv camera in the area they could see who entered the rest room or comfort room as how we Filipinos call them before your son left

i remember missing wallets were sometimes found in the trashcans placed in stairwells of office buildings and malls. did he notice other people there, employees, visitors, janitors/janitress as he went to the toilet, while he was there or meet people on their way there when he left?

No one was there when he entered and when he returned there was no one there either and did not also meet anyone on his way back there.

Who ever took it, I'm glad he or she was not smart enough to turn off the phone. This is why I'm not bring my other but advance phone out there.

@salonga oh, but Nokia, being the original smart phone ever invented, is not longer cheap, my friend. latest editions are coming out in the tech market;unless the Nokia is a 3310? hahaha!

In my opinion, it could be the janitor who went there to clean and saw that so he hid it there first, so when he comes back to gather all the contents of the trash bins, he has the overall garbage bag to dump it into. It won't be inspected by the guards after all.

Your lucky you still find a way to get it back. Sometimes it hard to get it back when you left your cellphone. Someone will be interested easily to get it

@epiffanie Me too, the details there are more important to me so you could just imagine how I went crazy when I lost my phone twice.

Yes, it is not good if there is a thief around the working place.

Same thing happened to my cousin. She said that she only uses the mirror to check herself and put her iPhone in the sink and she never went to one of the cubicles. And suddenly rushed towards her table, when she noticed she left her iPhone in the comfort room. She finds it nowhere. She called it and she found her phone inside the pot of a plant near one of the cubicle and wrap with tissue. Then she rushed again to the cctv department to check who hide it, it was a janitor who saw them.

that's a bit scary... Someone was trying to steal your son's phone. But glad he recover it. God bless.
I can't really remember anyway if something is missing I saw it after a month when I am doing a general cleaning lol!

Sometimes we only misplace things. I had lots of misplaced things due to forgetfulness lol, call it sign of aging.

Although we have had things go missing and had these returned, there are some items we know we will never see again.
