One of my new year's resolutions was to brush up on my German and study more of it. I was born in Germany and understood so much of it when I was younger. Now that I'm older and out of touch with my German family, I've forgotten most of it. I started up an account on a site called duolingo.com and I've started studying again. I'm surprised at how quickly it's all coming back to me. I'll see some words and now immediately that I used to know them. Once I get their translation, it's like "Oh yeah! Now I remember!" lol According to the site, I am now 15% fluent in German. lol I still have a ways to go but I'm really enjoying this! There are many other languages to learn on this site, too, if you wanna try it out!
What language have you always wanted to learn?

That's great Jessica! Wunderbar! Duolingo is wonderful for phrases and words, or a bit of brushing up like you're doing. They've got a ton of languages, and more coming all the time. I used their German for quite a while, just to keep practicing.
Good luck, and have fun!

I had French in high school and college. I'm really in need of a site to improve how to speak and write before I do any traveling overseas. My husband speaks fluent German.

@missjessicadawn I should buy a headset, as that would be great before we go overseas in about 5 years. Its always good to learn new languages.

Try out duolingo.com
If you have a headset with a microphone, you can repeat the phrases and it tells you how you do! It's very nice! :-)

In fact there are German Mylotters here. Perhaps you can learn much from them. English is a main foreign language here. We start to learn it since we were children. Besides it, actually I also want to learn French. I learned a little bit of it but I found it quite difficult compares to English.

@missjessicadawn I agree with you that French is difficult. But I think German isn't easy, too

@youless It isn't, but I think I got lucky because I was born there. I grew up listening to German and I know all the basics already. It's given me a good head start. :-)

Yeah, I've found a few of the German Mylotters here. :-)
I would also like to learn French but it does seem very difficult.

I want to learn more languages after I finish German. I'm debating between Spanish, French, Italian, or Russian. :-)

I studied French in college very long ago. But I visited Italy once and love the Italian language.

Yes. My mother was German and my dad was in the military. They got married in Germany and had me. I lived there for a few years before moving to America. :-)
