Disliking what you've written...

Sometimes I really want to write but when I sit down no matter what I try to write I end up disliking it. I try re-writing it but no matter how many times I try to do it I still end up rejecting it. It becomes very frustrating for me, so I just delete everything and give up for the day. Has that every happened to you?

If you struggle for perfection you will always feel like that. I suggest you stop destroying what you write and let others judge its worth. Writing is a little like painting in oils, if you keep going over the same thing you end up spoiling it.

I think not being in a good mood when I try to write can be the reason for not liking what I am writing.

I believe in the "never delete" rule. As a screenwriter, I have written GARBAGE but people ended up liking it anyway. Everyone is their own critic, but sometimes you need to have your writing looked at with other eyes to get true results. Just go for it.

I am thinking now it is a good idea to keep what I've written if I do not like it because maybe if I come back to it another day I will change my mind about it and actually like it. Sometimes, I find that if I am not in a good mood I end up rejecting what I write...

Yes, when I'm so preoccupied and I'm in the mood to write.

I love to express my feelings through my writing. It can be very therapeutic.

No, and when I feel like this can happen, I change my way of writing.

Maybe once or twice but the stuff I was writing was stuff I knew would set off a bunch of nasty responses, so I gave up on them.

Literally hundreds of times
I've written hundreds of discussions and deleted them before posting.
More often than not I've had a few drinks and written something controversial and the sober part of me removed it
Last time I did it the sober part lost and I posted it...admin removed it

I have this issue when trying to post discussions. Before I posted this one, I was writing about something totally different, but then after re-writing it many times I just deleted it and wrote this discussion, which I was contemplating deleting as well...

I have this default setting in my brain that whatever I write is poop. I still write it and store them for future use and motivation to continue it. Some people like my work and I've won some contests because of works that I hate. But, if I like my work, those pieces don't win anything lol. I still love them though.

Maybe you are being too critical of what you write.

@lovebuglena even my friends tell me that XD. Maybe I think too much when I want to write something good or get too emotional or something.

I used to write using pen and paper much more in the past than I do now. Now I use my computer to write. So much easier. And if I make mistakes or want to edit what I've written it's much easier and less messy too.
