Well if you sit on a chair or a computer like me way too long well you are going to start experiencing back and neck pain. This may be due to the chair being bad in my case it is or you are holding your body in a bad position . The main problem is contracting your front muscles and stretching your back muscles . So the stretched muscles cant hold your back in the proper position this also causes back pains . Several exercises may help you bring your back to the proper position but if you keep staying with a bad posture for 8-12 hours and work out for 30-40 min what do you think will happen of course the 8-12 hour strain will be more effective so do what is right for you and it might help you fix your problem . In my case going to the gym almost every day has made a big effect on my life and body . Its your choice if you want to make a change or not at the end .

Yeah sitting for long hours is painful. I think stretching every 2 hours help a lot. But doing 30 mins exercise is not enough. Morning exercise helps though.

Glad to hear that going to the gym has helped you. It's good to stand up and walk around a bit in between sitting especially if your work requires you to sit for long hours. There are ergonomic chairs too, some can be pricey but they're totally worth it.

Sitting in the same position for long periods is unwise.

There are a lot of stretching exercises that one can do to prevent neck and back pain. Of course, taking a break from sitting every hour and standing up and walking around will help as well.

For me, a standing desk solved the issue of sitting for too many hours. Sitting for long periods as required by many jobs, is never good. Many are using standings desks now. Really, I should do a post about this and show it.
