The Taste of Soap

I read a post a little bit ago by Deborah K. Mitchell. I always forget her @ name. She was talking about licorice and other candies and one that has a coating that tastes like soap.
My comment was that she must know what it tastes like, and I most certainly do. Now for a little bit of explanation.
My parents were very strict about the words coming out of our mouths. Not like the words people use today without thinking. But words today no one would even think were bad, yet in my household they were. I can't give any examples now, as I don't remember what they were. However, I have tasted many a bar of soap because of those words.
Yes, I can give an example - the slang for donkey was one. Parts of the anatomy were others.
I still don't use those words today and I even flinch when I hear other people use them so casually. Yes, those are mild by comparison, but that's how strict my parents were when it came to words.
Do you know what soap tastes like? By the way the worst bar was Lava. They all tasted bad, but that one was the worst, in my opinion. If you've tasted soap, which one do you think is worst?
Thanks for reading.

Never tasted soap but then again I never swore as a child. Even when I got older I would never swear around my parents. I knew they didn't like it and I would never disrespect them that way.

My mother had a coin system. You say a "bad" word and you had to chuck up a nickel. If you didn't have it, it came out of your meager allowance. No soap. I've been known to utter a cuss word now and then these days - I always think I better add some money to my savings account :))

Frankly, I don't give a damn. Just kidding. Doing my best to quote what was seen as "scandalous" in 1939. I sometimes curse like a sailor, though I'm sure you couldn't imagine such a thing. But I'm generally pretty polite. Lava is for hands after you've been working on engines and such like. I think it has pumice in it. That's just plain mean! All I've tasted is Shampoo, running down from my head. I think Johnson's Baby Shampoo is my favorite.

Yes, my daughter and I both recall the soap ordeal when we used bad words as youngsters. I don't use those words but very rarely to this day.

I probably did a couple of times, accidentally while having a shower. Couldn't even remember what soap it was but awful nevertheless.

Sad and awful way to get a child to stop cursing. I've tasted soap, but of my own doing. I remember receiving a gift of soaps, perfumes, lotions, and potions. The soap smelled so pretty, that yours truly couldn't resist a taste. I learned my lesson.

My parents always used Zest so that's the one I know what tastes like, I said a bad word, then had the pleasure to bite the bar as my mom put it.

Those words you implied were very mild indeed. Your parents sure were very strict and I thought mine were strictest. I never tasted any soap. I don't think. So, I will take your word on the tastes and never try for myself.

My mom threatened to use soap but I never gave her cause I guess- I wouldn't dream of swearing in front of her- but she was referring to the f word but I know she wouldn't like me saying any of the ones you mentioned either.

I have only ever tasted soap by accident.
I was raised in 2 different homes, and as such had different rules in each. I tended to forget those rules from time to time.. and one time while at my mother's she told me that my room was a mess and I said "What f***ing difference does it make?" and I got a smack across the face! That was the last time I forgot the no swearing rule in her house!

You don't need to explain. I can still taste that soap. The memory just never forgets a taste like that.

If we as kids would have said the word, "No", that was cause for a mouth-washing @just4him and it was Lye soap that was used. I still to this day remember one incident. I had said the word (no) and mom did the do. We had company over and I puked all over the lady's foot.
