Do you like waking up with the sun?

I had to teach my 8 AM class this morning, meaning I had to get up at 6:30 AM. Looking out my window from my desk, I noticed that the sunrise was pretty--not the most spectacular I've seen, but pretty nonetheless. Do you enjoy waking up with the sun? I actually do, though I don't mind sleeping in a couple days a week as well. I snapped this picture through my window this morning. You can (kind of) see four "Christmas trees" I never got to give away in the foreground.

Typically I don't enjoy waking up that early. I sleep the best right around that time of morning.

@jhechorain Oh yes. I could go on and on, but REM sleep is important for learning, working through emotional issues, etc.

Sometimes I hate interrupting my dreams. Most of our REM (dream) sleep occurs late in our night of sleep.

@TheHorse That is my waking time but the moment I see it rising I rush with my camera and capture it. My folder is busting at the seams with photos of this great being

It'd be nice to sleep in until 6:30a. My grandson has to get up at 5a. to get ready to catch his bus by about 610a. He is on meds so it takes him about a half an hour to wake up. I don't think any of my family are morning people. I am night person and would rather be up at night when the world is asleep.

@TheHorse .....Yeah, I am retired and shouldn't have to get up that early anymore. But, I do to make sure my daughter gets up. Being on medication it is sometimes hard for her especially if she is in a manic phase and been up for days.

@celticeagle She's bipolar? That's difficult disorder to manage. I hope she can stay near the "mean" but have only positive minor manic episodes.

That would be a bit early for me at this point! But if it becomes routine, it's not that bad.

I'm a morning person. I'd much rather be up with the sun then going to be late in the evening. My body clock automatically wakes me up around 5:30 AM. It is very unusual for me to sleep longer than that....but my coach turns into a pumpkin.....long before the clock strikes midnight.

I've been going to bed earlier lately than I used to. It makes it easier to get up early in the morning. In January I worked a lot of 8:30 shifts at the preschool. Now, I have to teach my College class twice a week. So my body is used to getting up early.

I was up at 5am as usual this morning and it was pitch black out. I hate waking up that early. The sun comes up when I'm already teaching.

The picture is awesome. It feels good to see the rising sun, when we have just gotten up. However, at our place it is winter season here and due to clouds or fog, the Sun does not appear before 8 am and by that time I am almost ready to leave for my office.

@TheHorse When the sky is clear, we get sunshine but as I mentioned due to winters it takes time for the Sun to come out. In summers it is up by 5.30 a.m. in the mornings.

Nice picture :) To answer your question, truthfully, no! I sleep in very late, mostly because I don't really have any obligations though. If I have to, though, I would get up every morning at sunrise.. Not a big deal. But I do stay up very late every night...

@TheHorse Aha, fair enough! Oh wow, 5:30 is very early! I lived in Alberta for 3 years, just above Montana :) When I was working as a roofing labourer, I had to get up early but I believe the earliest I had to get up was like 6:30/7am, nothing compared to what you had to do.

Over the years, I've been quite the night person. But I've shifted to a morning person as necessary. When we'd stack hay in Montana, we'd get up at something like 5:30 AM.

I used to wake up at 5:00 to walk and then teach. Now, being retired, I wake up when my body tells me to. Being in Florida, the sun is almost always shining. Nice photo. I sometimes wake up early enough to catch sunrise, too.

@DianneN I miss Ft. Myers Beach, where my friend's parents had a Winter home. We used to skinny dip in the Gulf at night and stir up those photo-plankton, or whatever they were, that glowed in the dark.

Your photo gives the promise of a lovely day to come. I always get up early particularly if I'm just lying awake. At that point I start going over and over stuff from the past so I'm much better off to get up and get going.

Yes! Vanny and I are working on a song called Pancho and Lefty. It's about an aging bandit, so we end it with couple of sunsets--light giving way to darkness.
