How long is an acceptable time to be on hold? No excuse me, not on hold because to be put on hold someone has to answer the phone, right? Well at my local Walmart nobody answers the phones. How long is an acceptable amount of time to wait before someone picks up the phone? 2 mins? 3 mins? I wait and wait and no answer. They are not busy trust me. They are never busy, they may have peak hours but never super busy. When you can go to a walmart and don't have to wait in line at a register, then you know they are not busy. I can't get them on the phone. I actually got through one time before but was put on hold for 10 mins, maybe 8 but still. I have a screen shot of how long I have to wait for someone to even pick up the phone. The one from today, it stopped ringing and just hung up. And don't even get me started on the personnel lady, hello? I just want a job. Like seriously what's an acceptable time?

How very odd, MixedG! My pc tells me I've never spoken to you before. You appear to be a newbie. Welcome to myLot! I do hope you begin making friends here as you earn your pennies! Have you ever tried asking one of the associates why no one is answering the incoming phone calls? (That's probably what I would do next time I was in that store. If I received no satisfactory answer, then I would escalate the inquiry up their chain of command. In other words, I would call Walmart's home office at 1 800 Walmart and ask if they realize their store number (insert the number for your local Walmart here) seems to be incapable of receiving phone calls because you have called numerous times and have never gotten an answer from an associate who works there.) Wait 30 minutes to an hour after giving that message to the Home Office and try calling your local Walmart store again. I would be willing to bet someone will answer their phone. You may be put immediately on hold again, but someone WILL answer your initial phone call... if for no other reason, the management will want to make sure Home Office is not checking to see if they are in compliance with Walmart policy on answering phones! LOL! I would get upset if my call to my local Walmart is not picked up within five or six rings, let alone waiting any minutes! (I work at my local Walmart. I would be written up if I ignored an incoming call!) I do hope this answer helps you!

That answer makes sense, thank you @DaddyEvil. Have you tried any suggestions from this discussion yet, @MixedG?

@DaddyEvil No-one better qualified on myLot than you, I think, to answer that one - or so I thought.

Maybe they only have specific people that are allowed to answer the phone.. like a manager

No, I see the employees answer the phones while I'm shopping.

i was on the phone with the power company one time for an hour and 45 minutes-i actually fell asleep at the desk waiting. 10 minutes at the most i'd say.anything over that they need to hire some folks.

Customer service isn't what it used to be especially now that we have all this automated stuff to make things easier and aid in customer service but it makes the experience worse most times. Not that I totally blame them for being miserable when they don't get paid much and endure abuse from customers but that is your job to deal with people. Not all customers are little rays of sunshine.

Why don't you talk to the manager the next time you're in the shop?

The store manager is actually supposed to be calling me within 3 business days. I called the 1-800-walmart number today.

Bad service I could say. Maybe the management has to do something about it. Whatever reason of the caller can be someone has to pick up the phone and entertain the caller, know what they want or here complains whatever just to make the customer they are valued and that they are choosing the right place to do business or buy whatever they need.
