BOOKS V/S MOVIES (let us see which one wins)

This discussion has been on and on and on.... since decades whether a movie spoils the fun that comes with the book. There are many movies that are made on novels in different genres but I don't think any director can compete with the author of the novel and their ability to describe each scene; not because of there ability but because of many unsupporting factors like: managing time, etc. So... I generally prefer books over movies. What about you????

@mohdovi there is a book that I really love. I keep reading it over and over. when I found out it was made into a drama, I watched the first few shows then I stopped. Nothing like the book at all..

A bit of both for me. I find it difficult to sit down and concentrate on one thing for a long time so books are good because I can read a bit and then come back to them but films are good because they tend to take less time! Saying that, I'll often fall asleep during a film even if I'm enjoying it. Of course, if I fall asleep during a book, I know where I got to.
I haven't read a lot of books. I've read bits of books but not many all the way through, and I prefer non-fiction when it comes to books.
I have, however, read all of the Harry Potter Series and, I think, the books are better than the films, although I still love the films.
With books, the author has all the scope they want to create pictures, include details, and is not really constrained by time or budget. Of course, the reader is free to use his or her own mind to see their version of those pictures whereas watching a film, you have someone else's idea and expression forced upon you.
So, I think both have their advantages but books do tend to be better than the film of the book.

@maan20 Yes, absolutely. I've lost count of how many times I've watched them all. Only read them all once, though. Although I did start reading them again to my boys until they could read themselves.

I know if you read books then you can imagine every thing how they look and sound and in the movie it's totally different. I have dyslexia so for me reading is not the best thing to do. I choose movies

I prefer books. In reading you create your own world, you make it yours and it is a world many times much more complex than they can show me two hours of film, in the mind of one the actors are always the best, and there is also a level of intimacy with The story that I can not reach with a movie.

I tend to prefer books, although some of the movies are good. Most of the time when I learn a movie is based on a book, it makes me eager to read the book.

Again, librarian speaking so some bias here, but the book is always better. Better to stretch your brain with my dear...
