Have you read any great works of literature lately? Do you have a favorite book?

Right now, I'm reading a book called The Philosophical Baby, by Child Psychologist Alison Gopnick. It's good, but I like her other book, The Scientist in the Crib, even more. Both discuss how babies are much more aware, and have more sophisticated cognitive abilities, than many of us think. My favorite novels? The Magus, by John Fowles, A High Wind in Jamaica, by Richard Hughes, and Lonesome Dove, by Larry McMurtry. My favorite children's book? Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak. But lately, for kids, I've fallen in love with the Elephant and Piggie series, by Mo Willems. They are hilarious for both adults and children, and the kids love them. I actually chose to write about this because I noticed that the Elephant and Piggie image I captured from the internet (several weeks ago) is quite small. I Will Take a Nap is my favorite Elephant and Piggie book so far. If you have kids or grand-kids from 2 to 8 or so, I recommend these. What have you been reading lately? Do you have a favorite novel?

The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Godfather by Mario Puzo. I tend to have favored authors rather than favorite books.

I haven't heard this children series. I like children's books too they are cute. Lately I am reading more than usual. I am reading Terry Prachett books, I read the hobbit. I am trying to finish a Stephen King series... only on book 4 of 7 I don't know if I have a favorite book... they are all pretty good if I finish them so it is so hard to choose!

@jhechorain OMG! I LOVED every one of Terry Pratchett's books! (I believe I have every one he wrote) I was so sad when @pgntwo told me Sir Terry Pratchett passed away last year! (If you haven't met pgn, you might check him out here.) He is quite the entertaining writer, too. (uhm... I might be prejudiced... he is a good friend of mine! grinning at you!) My pc says I've never spoken to you before. It is my pleasure to meet you here on myLot. I do hope you are beginning to make friends here as you earn your pennies and play with us! Welcome to myLot!

There are some great kids' books around. Unfortunately we don't often get the chance to read kids' books. We 'borrowed' a couple of kids once so we had a good excuse to go to a circus.

Uhm... that is very interesting, pony... Elephant and Piggie? Uhm... that series is not what I was trying not to imply in the next para are they? (You getting MORE kinky in your slightly older age? grinning again!) I haven't read any of your favorite (I want to call them adult books, but that implies something I'm not wanting to say... how about reading material for those over 12 years old?) books, except for Where the Wild Things Are. (I thought it was a 'meh' book. I wasn't willing to read it to Pretty over and over again, even though she did ask. I believe that was yesterday... grinning and teasing somebody... I can't decide if that's you or Pretty I'm aiming that at, though. ) I've been reading and editing a manuscript that has a theme very similar to 'Freaky Friday'... It is tough going at first, but I think I can help the author kill excess verbiage and set the meat of the story up front, where it will do the most good... I don't have favorite books... fav authors, yes.... fav books, nope! Feels like I haven't seen you in forever... how have you been doing?

@TheHorse Yeah, I thought I haven't seen much of you lately... at least not as much as I had been seeing you. I wasn't sure if that was me getting distracted by something or you not being here. Possibly a bit of both. I am enjoying talking with Raja and hora_fugit via Whatsapp on our phones, so have been distracted more than usual for me. I wouldn't mind texting with you, if you felt like it, too. I did give you my phone number some months ago...

I'm currently reading A Discovery of Witches, which a member here reviewed a while back @CRK109. It's the first in a trilogy. It's very good. My other favorites would be The Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, and many more. My book shelves are overflowing.

I have been reading, (since December) a book called Letters From High Latitudes, written about 1860 by Lord Dufferin. It is entertaining, but I barely read any more. I am sure I would like all the books you mentioned. I did like the TV series Lonesome Dove with Scott Bairstow, and I meant to take the books out of the library but never did.

I just finished listening to the audiobook for "Strangers on Montagu Street" by Karen White. It was not brilliant. Being a library edition - it managed to skip for the entire last few minutes. I didn't even care. Eeeek. I heard about a kids book awhile back, it was a story about Crayons and how each crayon had a different personality
