It is estimated that about 1 million (1,000,000) people commit suicide every year (about 2739 per day). Why? Why would someone kill themselves? No doubt it is a complex problem. Who is to blame for such a tragic world situation? * No one * The individual * Society What can be done to bring relief and help to those that deal with depression, anxieties and suicidal thoughts? What have you learned that could be helpful to those going down this negative road? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This post was inspired after I read the following post by Samia Khan.
People commit suicide everyday. They cannot bear the stress they go through and see no reason to live because they are helpless, hopeless and can't find that...

Nobody is to blame and it's not a failure of the society. For some people it's too hard to face the reality. May be that for some of them the life is so miserable that they hope to find something better killing themselves.

That is so true! I'm sure society could do more to help people that get to that point.

I have been very depressed in my life to where I could not see a future for myself. I was so miserable I wanted to die as I never thought I would ever feel better. I started taking an anti-depressant when I was 16 I think it was and it is has kept me alive. It is a necessity for me to take it every day.

That is true but education on dealing with depression can help. Society can do much to reduce the number of casualties by giving support instead of making the situation worse. This month I have been involved in disseminating helpful information.

They are "brave" to kill themselves I feel hopeless sometimes but I can't afford to hurt myself. I just keep myself busy. No one can help us but ourselves. I believe they have MENTAL ILLNESS.

@syeow1 Many of us get get bad thoughts sometimes. However, God would not want us to do that as life is a wonderful gift and our family loves us and needs us alive.
