This picture is so adorable. His mom took him to the library today and he got to check out his very first book. He loves books and he loves being read to. Sometimes he will take his books and go lay on his bed and read them in his own words..lol He is only two but he is so smart. He loves to learn.
Do you still go to the library and check out books? For those of you with children, do you take your children to the library? A brand new library just opened here. It is so nice and so big. There are always looks of people there.

@cacay1 yes I think that is very important for their future if you start them at a young age, I use to read stories to my kids when they were still in my belly,

I love it when kids love their books so young! And he will only get smarter .
YES - we go to the library all the time. We go to the public ones and we hit up the ones on college campuses. I love the ones with used bookstores . . . that's where I raid the shelves !

@Happy2BeMe Yes, they do soak up everything! Encouraging them so young sparks that love for learning. My kids are 12 and 7 - still bookworms . . . they read much more than I ever did at that age!

Look at those big beautiful blue eyes, he is ONE happy little boy here!
I remember taking our son to the library when he was about that age.
We loved to read to him and he loved to be read to, he started reading on his own when he was just 4 years old.
A teacher told us that it was because when we read to him we pointed to each word as we read them, and that helped him.
His first book that he read was in the Little Bear series, watch for these, they make excellent birthday gifts.

@Happy2BeMe And do yourself a favour......keep that first book that he actually reads words from and put it away for him, he'll appreciate it some day. I did that, of course I keep everything it seems! I'm too sentimental!

@Juliaacv I have so much of the kids stuff that I just couldn't part with. I am too sentimental too. My grandchildren are now playing with the toys that their parents played with when they were little.

That is so wonderful he likes to read. I taught my kids to read when they were 4. Looks like this little cutie is going to start even younger :-)

I was just at my library today. I borrowed a couple of cd's and a dvd. I still bring my kids regularly, and enjoy their summer programs for the kids.

Sadly we don't have a library close by so that is not an option for us but my wife loves that stuff. She buys them books online or from thrift shops yard sales and then after a while get new ones to replace the ones they have outgrown.
We have been reading to them for a long time they like it although there are times when it can be frustrating because you don't feel like reading a kids book but you don't have much of a choice.

What a cutie he is! Being an educator, there is nothing more important than reading. Our kids were read to by both of us, and of course by themselves. Theyhad their own library cards and a state of the art library. Our grandkids were read to before they were born and always had a bookcase full of books. They are excellent readers now. His mom is doing the right thing for him!

Library is like my church. Literally, after school I hang out there reading in peace and finding my peace. Children are so cool, because they are so open and like reading about different topics or genres. Personally, I prefer the science fantasy genre, but other genres are still interesting to read.

I love reading actual books and do it whenever i find time. The happiness of reading a book and flipping its pages is inexplicable. Good on this boy's mother who is teaching him the value of a good book at an early age.
