I Have New Neighbors

Upstairs. It was so quiet for the longest time, since I moved in back in August. For the past couple days I've been hearing noise on the ceiling/floor above my head.
It isn't a lot of noise, but it is noticeable and loud at times. Not voices or anything like that. Probably moving furniture in place and things like that. Right now it sounds like something is rolling across my ceiling.
I thought I might be getting new neighbors upstairs because it sounded like maintenance was vacuuming and cleaning up there a week or so ago. Well they're here and moved in, and making their presence known.
I hope they will be quiet neighbors.
Have you seen or heard some changes around you? Thanks for reading.

@just4him We had some in our first apartment that I really thought must have 20 people living with them seems like they stomped about all the time as hard as they could, sounded a little like wrestling even, and played loud music all the time. Being so young we were not ones to complain so we just lived with it and moved when we could, after about a year.

I moved from the two bedroom we were in to the three bedrooms. No people over head. So that is sure nice. I would go up and introduce myself and tell them tactfully that you" hear them" moving in and wanted to come up and say "hi" or whatever. That way you can see, by their reaction, how they will be.

Yes, I have the noisy neighbours that like to stand outside my bedroom Window to talk about everyone else that lives here.
Apart from that I hope your Neighbours will be good ones and not give you any bother.

By the time it gets a bit warmer here its just as well I get used to them being so inconsiderate as they like to gossip and gossip right outside your windows just so you can hear them.
I get annoyed the first time around but the second time I just close the Windows till they decide to go away which can be quite a while as its their main hobby so it seems.
Hope yours donĀ“t give you any bother.

Well, that is the consequence of living in a home that is connected. I do know that most condos and co-ops here in NYC are very well sound proofed. My girlfriends brother had on in a building and everything we went there we couldn't here anything from the co-ops next to or above them. Maybe they need to do a better job at sound proofing those units.

Its nice that you'll have new neighbours.
We had the house beside us sell last fall, and have a new young girl living there.
We haven't had much of chance to introduce ourselves as its been too cold to be outside, and we usually just talk across the fence to that neighbour.
We also had a new family move in across the road and over a bit last month. They are a noisy family, a lot of loud vehicles coming and going-I'm glad that we will be moving away from here before the windows are open to hear too much of their noise.

@just4him I agree, Saturday was terrible, it was awfully mild out and there were motorcycles and dirt bikes and ATV's all making loud noises, and ripping up and down the road. And only the motorcycles are legal to drive on the roads......no regard for the law.

If they're not quite all the time I at least hope they are considerate. I won't share my sisters stories with you just yet. She had a guy above her that wouldn't walk quietly even though she helped him out periodically. We've gotten new neighbors next door and across the street, but just so long as they're not partiers the neighborhood should be okay.

@just4him My sister's upstairs neighbor wore cowboy boots and stomped around on the wood floors that were up there. She asked him several times to be more quiet but he never changed. Maybe he didn't realize how loud it really was for her and thought he was being considerate. He's finally moved out and I've not heard anything yet about the newest neighbors if she has any.
You seem to be keeping up more with your notifications, Valerie.

@MarshaMusselman Not really. I'm two days behind again. I've been doing other things besides being here all the time. My book is also coming along, for which I'm happy.

When I lived in apartments @just4him , it drove me nuts. You'd think when they build those things that there would be extra insulation or something between the walls, ceiling and floors.

@just4him That's a good thing. Otherwise; nothing like having to live your life with ear plugs in.

The noise is probably just them moving furniture and setting things up. I am sure once they get settled in then will quieter. I hope they will be good neighbors.
