Do You Wear Jewelry?

When I was working I had a nice amount of jewelry to wear. I love rings, bracelets and watches (even though watches aren't needed much anymore). I wasn't one to wear too many necklaces as I hate anything tight around my neck. Anyway, I have a large mirrored standing jewelry box as well as a nice sized one that sits on my dresser. It's filled with mostly real jewelry with only a few costume pieces. As I was looking for my earrings to wear today I realized that I hardly wear any of that jewelry anymore with the exception of my earrings (mostly). I no longer wear watches and will put on bracelets if I'm going out and getting dressed up. Since I'm retired, I wear mostly hang-around clothes during the day which certainly doesn't call for any kind of accessories so my jewelry sits unworn in my jewelry boxes. It seems kind of silly to accessorize on days when I'm cleaning the house and doing chores. It seems like such a waste to have all this nice jewelry and maybe I should think about giving some of it away to my teenage granddaughters and same some for when the other granddaughters get older. Otherwise it will all be inherited when I die. Are you a jewelry person?

I have a custom made jewelry closet, three jewelry boxes, one of which was given to me by my grandma, a safe, a safety deposit box, and three velvet lined jewelry drawers. I have only bought myself a couple of pieces, but my husband insisted that he was the jewelry buyer in the family. He loaded me up throughout the years when traveling, for holidays, and for my birthday and anniversary, including our first son's wedding. I still wear my jewelry when I leave the house. Otherwise, the jewelry is willed to my daughter in law and son's fiancée through my sons. My granddaughter already has quite the collection between her other grammy and me. Perhaps she will inherit a lot more. I begged my husband to stop buying me jewelry and save that money for traveling. I just don't have enough ears, necks, fingers, or wrists or even room!

Pop over to England to the Tower of London we could always put you on the wrack! A bit of stretching here and there of your arms and neck and you will be able to wear them all @DianneN. At least you will get some good wear out of them all.

@amadeo I don't blame you for not wanting another earring. When it gets infected it's painful

Yes, I love my jewelry. I wear at least 6 rings at any given time, small earrings, and a watch. I usually have a chain with a pendant on or a pin or broach, not both and I usually wear a bracelet. At one point in time I used to wear a toe ring.

@Marilynda1225 My toe ring was actually more of a passing phase then anything else. I have always loved jewelry. I have a lot of rings that I rarely wear but love just the same.

I used to work with a lady who had more than one toe ring. She would wear sandals in the summer and you could see how nicely painted her toes were and adorned with a few toe rings. They always looked so nice I wanted one but never did. Your jewelry sounds like perfect accessories

Those I like most are rings and watches. I find a wrist watch still worth wearing, it's the only sure way to immediately know which time it is. I have bracelets and necklaces that I never wear, I plan to sell them.

@Marilynda1225 I have my wrist watch on me at every moment of my day, even while I am typing at my computer or cooking, it's not the case with my phone, so I still prefer my watch. I have no children and my niece does not need my jewelry.

I used to have all different kinds of watches and would wear them as an accessory (like a bracelet) but I always liked being able to know what time it was. Of course cell phones weren't as popular back then as they are now. If you don't have anyone to give your jewelry too then selling is probably a smart idea.

I wish I had more occasions to wear more of my jewelry but now I seem to just wear earrings most days and sometimes I'll put a ring on. I used to enjoy adding jewelry to my work outfits

@AbbyGreenhill I'm happy to be at home and retired and wouldn't want to go back to work just to wear my jewelry

I used to be. I used to have lots of jewelery on, a ring for every finger and so on. It is painful to remember what happened to all of it. I have a very few pieces left and never wear them now.

You should give some of it to them now if they are old enought to take good care of it.

I'll have to get out the pieces I think they might like and see if they are interested. Teenagers these days have their own tastes about everything so they might not want any of it until they are older

No I'm not much of a jewellery (English spelling) person. I only ever wear it when I go out, but I haven't got much 'good' stuff.

I have a mix of good and costume but they're all pieces I like. Guess not too many of us sit around the house all dolled up with jewelry

I also wore earrings and sometimes bracelets when I worked full time, now it's only when I go out. But the minute I walk in the house, I have to come out of all jewelry, shoes, and bra! My wedding rings are the only things that don't get on my nerves and I never take them off.

@Marilynda1225 I think a firing squad is too good for 'em. Bras were surely invented by a man.

I think that good old bra comes off for many of us the minute we walk into the house. Whoever invented it should be shot

I have very little jewellery and only a few nice pieces. It's hard to know what to do with it. I might just leave it for someone else to deal with! :)

@Marilynda1225 The few good pieces I think I will leave to our god-daughter's girls. The rest can go to an op shop when I'm gone.

I do like my earrings and I love rings but I have not worn the rings in a long time. I do have several necklaces I wear but not all the time.

I love earrings too and can see myself getting more as time goes on. I'm more into smaller lever back types as my fingers don't work as well to get the little doohickey thing on the backs. I do have a few good necklaces that I wear when I go out but not around the house

I do wear a watch regularly and I think that among my jewelry/accessories that is what I have most. I like wearing rings and bracelets at times. Not much of an earring-person but I have a few decent pairs. I wear them when I have meetings and presentations.

My watch has been sitting in my jewelery box for two years now -- I use my mobile phone when I want to check the time. I wear earrings and craft necklaces every day when I am at home, - on the road - I try not to wear anything expensive.

I don't blame you for not wanting to wear anything expensive if you are on the road. I don't think I've worn a watch in years either

I have never worn much jewelry, I'm teeny tiny haha so necklaces are always too long, and bracelets are always too big. I never got my ears pierced either. My boyfriend wishes that I wore more jewelry because his mother actually makes it as a hobby. I do have a really pretty silver necklace with an infinity symbol pendent with small diamonds. I think simple and not too flashy is pretty. I also have a pair of diamond studs that were my mothers, and one day when my little girl is old enough, I will give them to her

I like functional watches and normally use the same until it breaks, but I like the rings a lot although I have to take them out for safety reasons at work.
