I won't be able to sleep tonight.

There is going to be all night prayer in my neighborhood. Prayers will be offered in musical form throughout the night till wee hours in the morning. Goddesses Durga and other Goddess would be offered prayers by professional musicians and singers on a huge make shift stage. There would be high decibel speakers with high volume to test our ear drums. I am afraid that due to unbearable sound levels, we won't be able to sleep all night. Those who are from India would know what is Mata ka Jagrata or Jagran. I hope if I remain awake there would be some mylotters online during my night to give me company.

If our family was there my parents would have taken me there. My grandma passed away few years back, she used to take me to Jagran. We used to pray along with them. Good times.

You could come here and join us in the Jagran which is going on right now at full swing. How many Jagrans did you attend where you remained awake all night.

@Aushaw Great to hear that you remained awake almost all night on 2-3 occasions to earn some Punay. I am sure the Great God has already given His blessings to you and He would continue to shower His blessings in future also.

@dpk262006 She used to come only in my vacations so as far as I remember 4 or 5. Out of those only 2 jagarans I was completely awake. I slept in the morning and got scolded because she said we get , gods blessings or what to say..... do you understand punya, that one, only if we are awake in the night as well as morning. Therefore according to her I got only half punya

Yes, you are very right that why cannot they pray without loudspeakers. It not only disturbs students but old and infirm people also. What to do some people are incorrigible.

@Bodyandbrain I am also strictly against it, but people are becoming more and more self centred, selfish and uncaring. They don't want to put themselves into the shoes of others.

@dpk262006 I detest this practice from childhood, it was a big disturbance for studies and sleep. Why people just don't apply their minds before doing something.

@TiarasOceanView Mylot would be a good option to keep myself busy, if can't sleep during night. I have taken nap in the afternoon to compensate for my night sleep.

I understand that there are some restrictions here also that music can't be played on loudspeakers after midnight. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I understand that when it is night here, it will be day at your end, so you might be there to give me company, if I decide to mylot.

@Kandae11 Never mind. I can understand that you have other important things to attend to, besides mylotting. If you are not going to comment within few minutes time, I will understand that you are away from mylot. Have a nice day.

@dpk262006 That sounds like a plan, but I will be here for another hour then there are other things I must do. But I will be back by 5pm - which I suppose will be almost dawn in your country - and you will want to catch up on the sleep you have lost.

@syeow1 It is difficult to continuously sit in prayers. I may clarify that I am not here for earning cents. Earnings are secondary to me. Nice Profile picture. Whose picture it is?

That's really inconsiderate to make such a loud noice. Perhaps you can take to them. I hope they will think about others and not to make the noise any more.

These kinds of people are not bothered about others, therefore, no use of talking to them. They are concerned with themselves only.

@youless You see when you live in a society and the person happens to be your neighbor, you cannot go to Police to complain against him because he would come to know about it and it will jeopardize the neighborhood relations. You would agree that in our hour of need our neighbors come forward to help us than our relatives.

Oh my goodness . . . were you able to sleep that night at all? You know I have some neighbors I do not like . . . part of the reason has been noise. One of the older tenants next door had a mariachi band come in their backyard to play music as the were having a moving party or something . . . but this started around midnight . . . I could not believe it ! I hope you got some sleep - quiet time to calm your ears anyway!

I could not sleep during that night and next day I had to attend a function in day time, so I could properly sleep during next night only. I can understand how irksome it could be when a band start playing music during midnight. It means there are some careless souls at your place also.

@much2say Ask the band people/party to stop playing next time during midnight, else you would requisition special monkeys from India.

@dpk262006 Ah, well I hope you were able to recover . . . usually in times like that I am mostly ok during the next day until the afternoon . . . then I get sleepy . Careless souls, yes . . . bring on the monkeys !

I do not see any reason why there should be blasted music as though God is deaf. I just do not like it.
