What things you miss from your childhood?

There must be something that people miss from their childhood. Good or bad past but I never heard anyone say they don't miss anything or then if they answer they don't really think of it. It's just interesting question to ask from different age and nationality. I miss the time when I just went out in the forest to build my own "base" No phone or even a watch to check time. I was just living free and doing literally whatever I wanted. There are so many things I miss but that one I miss the most. I'm lucky to have very nice childhood What do you miss the most from your childhood?

I miss summer where I can play all day and watched television at night. No assignment no pressure just being a kid. I also miss the afternoon sun at my aunt house (where we live when I was young) after school. I miss the ice cream after class and I miss the cakes as my school snacks.

I miss having a close relationship with my cousins and playing with them. I also miss all the fruit trees my dad planted in our first house with the big garden. I miss my climbing tree there -- not that I'd still be climbing it. I miss having my family around. Now my parents are gone and my brother lives five hours away in good traffic.

I was a farm girl. Climbing fruit trees and eat up there were my afternoon thing. I miss that for the most part. Now, i can't even remember the last time i was at the farm.

I can understand that. I asked my father to grow me an apple tree when i was young but it's just not possible here.

Sounds cool I always wanted to be able to grow fruit trees in Finland but it's just too cold for the most of them

I miss a street for us children where we could play. And the neighborhood feeling when we felt guarded by all the grownups.

I miss that lovely safe and secure feeling of being with my parents when I was little. They are both gone now but I remember that feeling of being at home and being loved by my family. I often think about it and wish I could go back.

Are you in a more rural area now? I don't miss malls at all. I used to work in one.

@librarygeek1980 I never liked the malls. They were all alike with the same chain stores, and when they appeared (yes, they were new when I was young) they destroyed our downtown and the independent and unique businesses with it. We don't have any malls in our town, either, and I hope they don't build one. It's nice to be able to tell one town from another. All our towns in the north part of our county are unique and there's not a mall in any of them.

@bagarad I am, actually. I live in a smaller town in Utah, population of less than 10,000. Sadly, malls have gone almost extinct.

I think I mostly miss Mom and Dad paying all the bills! Actually, just playing with the neighborhood kids was a lot of fun. Those were the days!

I miss the fact that as I child you have no real responsibility or worries. I miss how safe it used be, that we could go play outside in the street at night something my child will never be able to do.

@GegeTheMechanic I always had a pony and pet lambs. From time to time I had a goat, a tortoise, a chicken, a turkey and once a kangaroo.

I miss going on vacation with my parents when they were still together and being with friends playing not worried about what is going on with all the social media.

Definitely the one thing I miss most about being a child is the basic, simpleness of being ignorant to the harsh realities of the world and just experiencing life by my own means.
