BAD START TO MY DAY - NO INTERNET.

When I got up this morning I found that the internet service was completely gone - not only in my area - but in the town as well. For the next seven hours I felt like a fish out of water, because all of my plans for the day would involve using the internet - and I had no idea how big the problem was or how soon service would be restored. Thankfully, it returned a short while ago, and I can now try to get ahead with some of my plans - which include of course - visiting Mylot and checking notifications, responses and posts. Anyway, earlier when I was feeling very frustrated - an awful thought entered my head. What if there is a global disaster and the world is sent back to pre internet days? How would we cope? - Something to think about.

hmmm, i would not want to wish for that. if ever, maybe the satellite up there is 'grounded' and thus, doesn't receive messages?

I don't know, but when it came back it kept going off and on. That is why I wasn't able to read many posts. I hope the service will improve today.

I have a windup radio and so I would get the news so as to know what had happened. I have some friends nearby to get together with so to help one another deal with that shattering world event.

It would be back to the library for all the research I need to do. I'm grateful for the Internet.

I think it would be hilarious. Those of us who know how to grow stuff and build stuff would suddenly become important. The high tech bazillionaires would be helpless. I'd charge them $1000 per ear of corn. And $1,000,000 to build them a shed and outhouse. Buwaahaahaa! Oh, sorry. Glad you got your internet back. I'd be frustrated without mine too.

If I know it won't be there - then that is quite different, I'll know how to plan my life - probably go into farming.

That is a good question. What if? I will be missing my online friends and will have to start again what I did before there was internet. I would take another course to learn something new, visit the library again, writing with my typewriter, so on ....What about you?

Luckily I can type - would have to go back to typewriters. Post offices and libraries will be popular once more. If we are prepared we can handle it.

If I know its going to happen say like two to six months before - then I could make careful plans for my survival. Most of my business right now is conducted via the internet.
