Do you eavesdrop?

United States
February 23, 2017 1:59pm CST
When I'm on the phone or talking about something personal, I don't talk very loud so that no one can listen to me. If they do, they'd have to be real close but when someone is close to me - I will walk away. I try to keep all of my personal calls in a private setting if I could for instances in my home, or in the car. But there are some people who just talk so loud - you can't help but hear their conversations even though you don't want to because they're simply right there. Sometimes even in front of you in line. So yes, I admit - I have eavesdrop but simply not because I'm nosy. It was unpreventable. Today's eavesdrops of the day was a teenager wanting her job back at the bakery. She wants to work two days a week part time. The manager said, they have enough employees already and two days a week part time for a few hours isn't enough or worth it especially since she quit. I was in line waiting to pay........ while hearing all this!

I hate that people broadcast their business on their phones like that . . . too loud these days! The other day I heard some girl talking (or yelling) to what must have been her boyfriend. All that swearing and stuff too . . . sounded like he had been cheating on her or something. But hey, it's not like I was purposely eavesdropping . . . she was the one screaming!!

@infatuatedbby Oh yah, that annoys me too! I don't like it when people put me on speaker either . . . another reason not to be on the phone with friends who do that .

Haha yes! I know what you mean.. We aren't trying to listen but it's not like we can't help it! It's just way too loud! I don't broadcast my business to the public either. Then theres the people who use SPEAKER so you can hear both worlds.

Yes, I eavesdrop when loud talkers have their cell phone conversations in line. if I tracked them for a day, I think I could write their biography! Some do it almost a if to show that they're more important than the people around them.

LOL, the nerve of some people wanting their jobs back after quitting. She probably didn't quit under good terms either. I do eavesdrop because I'm nosy.

She should have thought of trying to cut back her hours before she quit.. and why wouldn't she be embarrassed that the whole world could hear her conversation? Some people have no shame!

I was not nosy in this situation but I can be sometimes. But yes, I agree - If I were her, I'd be embarrassed asking for a job back AND be demanding that she's only available for two days a week at certain times too!

People just don't seem to care anymore. I wonder if they understand that it is rather hard not to over hear their conversation.

I certainly try not to hear the conversation, but that isn't possible with people talking so loud. In Las Vegas, it seems like everyone is trying to talk over all the other people on their cell phones. I don't know how anyone gets the right information.

I have to say I agree with the boss who does not want the worker back. I do not like to overheat phone calls so if possible I go away from someone when they get a call but like you said there are times when overhearing a conversation is unavoidable. I really hate when people use their phones in public for unimportant things. Most anything can wait until we are back in our vehicles etc.

I too, would not hire the girl back because she's quit and she only needs to work two days (well only can). That is not reliable what so ever. There are some people who use their phones with SPEAKER infront of people too and its a personal call.

That isn't so bad what is bad is when you over hear a conversation and you find yourself actually trying to listen so you can figure out what the heck is going on. I feel the same way when you have a call you want to keep it as private as possible. I will go to a place where I am alone.
