Today is Friday and my day off (I will explain off from what another time). I got up and decided that it was about time I took myself off for a long walk even though it was not sunny but at least it was not raining. So I got out my trainers which I use for walking and bent to tie the laces up - and decided that was easier to do if I sat down I walked for half an hour then stopped for coffee and sat outside the coffee shop but the sun came out and shone directly on me. After my coffee I got up and continued to walk towards an office where I had to take a form which they had phoned about a few days ago - and at a certain point I realised I had not paid for my coffee so I went back Finished at the office I went to a big supermarket and wandered, buying a few light items as I was on foot and bags seem to get heavier when walking. I went to the cat food area and saw some toys for cats - so I bought her a couple as I couldn't go home without getting her something Now I am back and she loves her toy! I think that I am not only getting older but dafter too Do you feel your age?

@mysdianait The years pass so fast. We had lunch outside and soon we go out again for a walk. I prefer to have lunch out and dinner at home.

You managed to get the cat toys and find your way back home, consider it job well done. The last few days I have felt my age plus my husband's age added together.

Yes, but only sometimes. However I'm familiar with all the scenarios you describe. The worst thing about aging for me is the failing eyesight. I used to have 20/20 vision but now I can't read a thing without glasses, and have recently had to have some long distance ones for driving and TV

I had to give up driving and also got rid of my car over two years ago as I have a problem (which I posted about) which means I can't see after dark, not even walking. I was a danger to myself and others. I have worn specs since I was a child so am used to them but the memory thing is bugging me as mother had Alzheimer though not unril she was almost ninety. I am on the look out for warning signs and I hope these were one-offs or I had better not go out of the house at all

@mysdianait Regarding the Alzheimers - there's such a thing as having too much knowledge - it can cause us to worry too much.

@DianneN Yes I am so pleased that I decided to have another cat and thrilled that she found me too! She really has settled in so well and, as my friend noticed this afternnon too, she 'talks' to me too now. At least I can talk with her and I am no longer talking to myself like before

Feeling and acting my age are two different things right? I try acting childish... I mean childlike at times. Like I am 7 instead of 34. just putting humor in some conversations.

Sometimes I can feel like that yes. But I make it ahd have made it a vow to move all I can. If I can´´t do much walking one day I will walk around the house up and down and swinging my arms backwards and forwards and warming up like the Athletes do before a Race something like that. I have to move even if I don´t want to.

Very wise indeed! I should have done that during the past three months when it was too cold to go out much. I wasn't worn out or aching though so I am off to a much better start than I was this time last year and hopefully from next week I will be able to go every morning again like I was doing before the winter. it makes sucj a difference!

@lovinangelsinstead21 Gosh someone else was talking about loose dogs where they live on another post yesterday too. They would scare the wits out of me! I live in town, which means walking is in polluted streets but there are no loose dogs as it is illegal to abandon them or walk them without having them on a lead here. yes I do walk a bit further every day. The hospital last spring told me to walk at least 30 minutes every day but I try to do at least an hour, stopping on benches if I get tired.

@mysdianait A question of just doing it and going out and see how far you can get without doing too much at first. I got to walk further and further and I have to retrace my steps as I cannot go very far here as there are four Motorways around us. There are too many loose Dogs around a few are qutie dangerous too so I cannot go up those lanes at any given time.

I thought you said that getting old has its advantages. I can see that you really pamper Chica. She's so lucky to have you. The only time I feel my age is when I have pain here and there. But that will be taken care of in no time. Can't let the pain stay there for too long.

Oh yes there are some advantages but I don't think that they outweight the disadvantages, at least not right now I am lucky to have her She is such fun! Fortunately I don't have pains. Some aches but they seem to appear if the weather is damp, dull and grey so as summer is just around the corner they might soon disappear for a few months.

I think becoming a cat lady is a sure sign of ageing. Personally, I started to feel old when, at the age of 40, I finally gave up playing football because I realised I was spending more time recovering from injury than actually playing. It was a sad day. Needing glasses to read is another age related event which affects us all. Especially as print quality these days is so good they insist on the smallest possible font on labels and important documents. Grrr I am however still young at heart and still have an eye for the ladies. It's just not a good eye anymore.

@mysdianait That's me told! Yeah, only the one. I keep my glass eye in a box and it only comes out for special occasions. Like most things these days, it takes a lot more polishing before I can stick it in.

She has already torn some of the furry stuff of its head! She went wild with it but I am so pleased that she knows which are her toys and which things she should not (and doesn't) touch. Yes I did have a productive day today. I went out agaion with a friend after lunch as the day was so good and walked some more, had another coffee and got my tablet fixed too. It wasn't recharging since yesterday and fortunately it wasn't the battery but the charger which cost very little to replace I just saw your comment elsewher and thought 'well done'

@jhechorain No no mess (yet) As it is blue furry stuff it is easy to spot on the floor here. I just hope she doesn't eat any of it though, as it was a cat toy, I presume it is not at all harmful for her. Yes I feared it was going to be a problem with the battery and that would have been expensive - but I learnt today that the battery is covered by the guarantee which still has another 18 months before it runs out so all is well for now indeed I will cross my fingers for your warm weather too!

I hope she isn't making a mess with it, that wouldn't be very fun to pick up after her. I wish the weather were warmer but I think that I will have to wait until next week for that. I'm glad you are able to use your tablet again and also it wasn't something expensive to replace.

Some days I feel every minute of my age. Most of the time it's looking in the mirror that reminds me that I'm not a youngster any longer. Sounds like you had an entertaining morning. My day is just starting. I sent @Platespinner and her son on their way home....had some breakfast, sent my husband off to work.....now I need to get myself dressed and return my house to some semblance of order.

Oh as soon as I finish breakfast and am dressed, I get mine in order (which is pretty simple as there is only me and Chicca) and only then do I turn on the computer or go out. If I come here first then I get little else done and usually a walk just keeps getting put off and before I know it's dark!

So, if I'm not mistaken, you forgot to pay for the coffee **rubbing my chin** are you sure you went back to pay for it?? Tip for walking, get a backpack so that IF you decide to wander into a market and are tempted to buy you will have a place to put a few items .... see, that way you'll be able to walk hands free but of course if you forget and the stuff you get is too heavy then eventually you'll end up flat on your back and someone will probably come by to help you up then you'll walk a few paces and again end up flat on your back............. sounds kinda repetitive don't it Ok bad idea, I know, get a wheeled dillybob to put stuff in then you can roll it home after a shoppin trip. Hopefully you won't be headin home uphill.

I have a shopping trolley ( a dillybob? that sounds bad ) which I do take with me when I leave home knowing that I am going to buy heavy stuff. I didn't intend buying anything much at all but there were some beautiful plum tomatoes and some beans and... I forgot how far away from home I was. Yes it is slightly up hill to come back but not enough to really notice and if I get worn out I zig zag and cut across instead of going straight up the main road and that seems to make it flatter.

@rebelann I have never heard that word before so I don't know whether it even exists. I don't have a car for over two years. I walk everywhere or get a lift if I need to go somewhere too far to walk. I go for shopping trips daily so that I never really have a heavy load. Yes I have a smartphone. No idea what I would do without it now.

I expected to feel a lot older at my age. I'm at the tail end of 66. I so remember my grandfather's retirement at 63 and as a teenager I thought he was well ready to retire...no one should have to work when that old. Haha! Perspective is everything!
