Movie Review - Hidden Figures

The untold true story about three women who made space flight happen. They were called Colored Computers - why- simple, they were colored women and they were human computers in an age when computers were just getting started. They all worked for NASA at Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, a state that had NOT gone through de-segregation.
Hidden Figures gave a fresh up look picture of the culture of that time in US history before segregation in 1961.
Hidden Figures is the story of Katherine Goble Johnson the mathematician behind all the calculations that put the Mercury astronauts in space and John Glen aboard Friendship 7, the first space flight to orbit the earth three times before coming back to earth.
It's the story of three women who were the first African-Americans to achieve what they did for NASA.
Taraji P. Henson portrayed Katherine Johnson
Octavia Spenser portrayed Dorothy Vaughan
Janelle Monae portrayed Mary Jackson
Kevin Kostner portrayed Al Harrison
Jim Parsons portrayed Paul Stafford
If you saw the Academy Awards last night they honored Katherine Johnson, now 98 years old, for her work as a mathematician with NASA. Octavia Spenser was nominated for Best Supporting Actress Dorothy Vaughan - an award I believe she deserved, though didn't receive.
Katherine Johnson crunched the numbers. Dorothy Vaughan was the force behind the human computers, and Mary Jackson was an engineer who intended to be one for NASA.
This is their story about how it all came together, the untold story until now. No one thought women could make a difference in a man's world, and certainly not a colored woman. These three proved them all wrong.
I give this a double thumbs up must see movie. It is worth your time and money to see this historic movie.
Thanks for reading.

This is an amazing story — motivating, inspiring, and real!
It's also a great movie, and not only for its message, but it's also well-crafted artistically.

I can imagine the disaster might have bring if they didn't allow these three to make a difference in NASA. John Glenn would have never made it back home.

@just4him They should have said it a long time ago. With out them, Russians would have beaten them long time ago.

It seems some really enjoyed this movie. Wish they had given it a title that would have made it more obvious what it was about.

Katherine was so cute on the awards last night. There have been some other posts on this movie too. Must be very good. It is in my Netflix queue.

I just saw the movie today and agree that it's a must see.
Now that I've read your review I wish I'd seen it before the Oscars so that I'd have taken more notice when they brought Katherine Johnson on stage. At the time I didn't have a clue who she was
