Jaybo or Jarbo.

I didn't think it was possible to mispronounce my user name, but when one of my poems was read on American blog radio the other day, the host introduced me as Jarbo.
Jabo is my pen/user name, and it's just a combination of the first two letters of my first and second names. When I chose it I assumed everyone would pronounce it in the same way as me, which is Jaybo.
I suppose it's a variation of that old song "You say tomayto and I say tomarto".
It's no big deal either way, but I found it amusing.

@Happy2BeMe Thanks, at least there need be no confusion over your user name. Glad you like the photo - I took it on a boat trip on the River Thames.

@Juliaacv I was just surprised that it could be pronounced any other way, and now here is @Happy2BeMe saying she's always thought it was Jawbo!

I would have pronounced it Jaybo....I have a very short last name in real life. It is pronounced phonetically. It's so simple. Yet I have heard it massacred many times.

@Morleyhunt It's odd isn't it? Something that you think can't be mispronounced, and yet it is.

in my head it's jah-bo, maybe because the filipino vowel a is pronounced ah.
i'm glad you're doing well at the poetry site. was it a limerick?

@hereandthere Yes, i can see it would be natural for Filipinos to pronounce it like that. Yes it was a limerick.

You mean it's not Jabbo? Seriously, I'd always assumed Jahbo. Well done on the broadcast.

@ridingbet Yes I think you've told me that before. It's quite an easy name to pronounce, I think it can only be done the one way. (Unlike mine)

I've never thought of saying your user name while inserting your actual name into the mix. In fact, I don't think I quite get it even now. It seems like a tongue twister.

I have heard people put r's in names that clearly had none before. I don't know how that happens.

I suppose. The first 2 letters are just my initials and then the rest is echo rain as it is shown.

@jhechorain Now you see - that could be read as etcho in much the same way as the 'ch' is pronounced 'much' or 'rich'

@jhechorain I can understand if English isn't their first language, as I'm sure I mispronounce a lot of names that are foreign to me. Btw - is your user name pronounced as it's spelt?

That is amusing. Amusing because the person threw in an extra alphabet that wasn't there. But also because in my mind I pronounced your name - Jah (like in reggae music "Try Jah Love") and bow (like in a rainbow). Jah-bow. Not Jaybo. Thanks for correcting my mind.

@cmoneyspinner As I said, it's no big deal - in the normal course of events I would never hear any of you actually say it, but I was just surprised. Now it turns out that most of the people who have responded here would get it wrong (like you)
