When you turn on the TV for news and you don't like what you see

I used to be a regular consumer of local news, both the bad and the beautiful. Since the last national elections, however, I have been experiencing anxiety over certain political movements and issues. For the first time in my life, I had seriously thought of migrating to another country with a more stable government.
But I'm staying for a bit more and I'm trying to be patriotic despite the growing concern over my family's future.
And so I watch a bit of local news, a bit of international news ... and then I tune in to my "happy stuff" - those channels that have cooking shows, travel adventures, and some historical documentaries. Movies? Sure, as long as they're feel-good movies. I don't want to live the rest of my life dealing with frayed nerves.

Yes, I have been a witness to that. It's sad, but it happens.

I know what you mean. If only I could turn a blind eye all the time. But we will have to keep up with what's going on around us so we can make good decisions.

@almostoveryou and sadly, it will always be like that.

Correct. This is why I still bother to watch news even though it's mostly about extrajudicial killings and political maneuverings.

I'm usually glued to the news when there's a weather disturbance. These days it's the only kind of "bad news" that's worth listening to. Most days I tune in to my happy stuff. :)

I sometimes wonder if it's the way news is distributed and made these days, what with all the platforms one can use to disseminate information, wrongful or not.

True. I sometimes wonder if it's the way news is made and distributed these days, what with all the platforms one can use to disseminate information, wrongful or not.

That's what I do too. But I make sure to watch at least the weather news before switching. :)
