In a soap opera I usually watch there is this guy who is a known playboy. He meets the new girl in town who refuses to fall for his charms, but he is very determined. He tries everything, until two months later she finally gives in and they are a couple. He continues to pile on the charm for another three weeks, she begins to fall in love - then she is unceremoniously dumped. This kind of scenario is nothing new - it is played out countless times in real life. Some guys will try every trick in the book to get that particular woman into bed - especially if he thinks she is playing -"hard to get". When he succeeds, she is discarded and he moves on to the next conquest. Of course, this happens the other way around too - some women also do it to men - whether for lust or material gains. I just wonder who feels it more after being dumped in this manner - the woman or the man. What are your thoughts?

I have no idea. Once I would have thought women were most affected but I've seen some men who were really badly affected when a relationship when wrong.

I'd say it depends on the person more than the gender. I'm always surprised (as have some of my male friends) by how quickly women find a new man after a relationship ends. But I've heard women say the same thing about men.

Perhaps that is one way they attempt to ease the pain of the breakup - if it was painful that is.

I am single and plan to stay that way Yes I get feelings of lust...especially at work as our place seems to hire a lot of hot ladies The reality is relationships going wrong are destructive to one or both parties so I choose not to enter into one.

Yes it does - like how emotional the dumped person might be for example.

@Kandae11 I personally know someone who loved a boy but got married to another man just because he was rich. And after the marriage she said she was sad but it didnt seem so. And she is still with the same man today

@Kandae11 Dumping is seen in many situations. One has to develop a thick skin to face dumping.

I am not sure who feels it more. But these days this is very common thing people use other's for their sake and dump them once they use them.

I never had to deal with this problem. My husband is the only man I have ever been intimate with. I can't even imagine the pain and hurt that people must feel.

Indeed, those actors in the show were so real - even though I haven't experienced it, I really felt it for that girl.

I know some men who take a break up really hard but try to keep from showing it. It depends on the personality I guess.

That would depend on who's being dump I guess. The one that play around only feel he or she just won another conquest. It doesn't matter if it's a woman or a man. When we love someone, it will hurt when your partner is only playing around with you.

This seems to be coming more common with both sexes. Probably be best if people are just out front about it and let the other party know they are not looking for a serious relationship. When people do it that way, usually no one gets hurt or angry.

That is exactly the way it should be - no "beating around the bush" - just be upfront from the beginning.

My thoughts are that men who do that and women are not very nice people and they are terrible to hurt others in this way. It can unfortunately end in real life making one depressed or wanting to end their life.
