I was just looking around the Internet to read on different topics and found this page at about.com
It is titled "The Most Expensive Foods in New York". I just could not believe my eyes that some people are actually spending that kind of money of foods.
To me, it is totally "just to show off". Nobody needs to spend so much money for a simple meal or item.
Would you be willing to part with your money for something that will dissapear in a few minutes? No thank you!
NYC has some of the highest end luxury foods you can find, and if money is no object, read on for how you can really treat yourself.

I said the same thing about wedding gowns...tell me, why would you spend $15,000 on a dress you will wear for four to eight hours....

@Morleyhunt, I did not spend much on my wedding dress, instead we used our money wisely for a down payment for our house.
My saying was "You can't sleep under a dress".

I found my wedding dress in a second hand shop for about $80.00 and it was gorgeous head piece and all. I don't even know where it is today, last I saw it my daughter had it. I wouldn't spend $15,000.00 if I could afford it, no way.

@Butchcass4 smart woman. My daughters employer had a daughter get married. They spent $15,000.00 on their daughters wedding dress. No one ever described the dress, but everyone commented on the price tag.

Yeah there's no way. People spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars or even thousands on a meal. That is crazy to me! We are going into the city for my birthday dinner but the restaurant that I chose has entrees in the $20-30 range. Still reasonable!

I looked at the link, all that I can say is that I must have cheap taste, because I wouldn't be the least bit interested in buying a coffee worth that, or a grilled cheese or a dog biscuit.
Somewhere between those outrageous prices and a fraction of them is reality, and what the majority of us are probably comfortable and accustomed to paying for such things.

I would have to have tons of money so that the amount I paid meant nothing to me, and even then I dont know if I could do it, with no frame of reference for money meaning that little.

@Jessicalynnt I have always been careful with my money and there is no way I would waste it on such "expensive" things that bring a moment of fun.

@marlina right? I think after having no money for so long, and understanding it's value because of it, I couldnt do that

I always tell it like it is - so here goes. If I was a wealthy person and hung in those circles, then yes I would spend the money. And don't forget, NYC is expensive for everything!

@marlina People can afford it - let them pay. I could afford several of those items, but would I pay for them - probably not. I saw a special about the ice cream a while ago.

I don't have that kind of money But I guess I wouldn't pay all that much when I can get something equally delicious at lower prices.

Agreed, makes no sense and such a waste of resources, but remember there is nothing wrong with capitalism.

Looking at what was on offer I have to say absolutely and definitely a massive NO. I do like fine foods but those things are quite grotesque. There is a woman who lives in New York who has had so much plastic surgery she resembles a cat or so she thinks she is more akin to a monster. She says her allowance of $547,000 a year for her food bill. She claims she can't even boil a kettle or use an oven! Well this is the sort of person who would probably buy this stuff! What a disgrace eh!

I would be willing if I am filthy rich and have lots of extra cash. It would not be practical to spend that much if I am earning just enough for my basic necessities.

I do not think I can even take a sip of that $10,000 martini while at the back of my mind I know each sip costs probably one meal, or more? I just can't.
