Blue, Blue, My World is Blue.....

The words of that song come to mind when I see this finished quilt. It was a project begun and finished last year. Somehow no photo was taken and it was never shared on Mylot. Can you tell? Blue is my favourite colour. I always seem to have a lot of blue scraps to use when I make a quilt. This quilt was entirely machine pieced from scraps of fabric in my collection. When the quilt front (also known as a flimsy) was finished I sandwiched and pinned it (sandwiching is assembling the backing, batting and the quilt front). This quilt was machine quilted on my domestic sewing machine, not the treadle....but that is something in my plans. This quilt will be one of the items for sale when I get my Etsy Store up and running.

@jillybean1222 it's done things like that to me. I've looked and the it's taken me a lot of time to figure out what I originally typed.

It looks very lovely. This would be SO beyond me. My brain starts to overheat just reading and thinking about trying to get the three layers to go together nicely.

Space is the largest problem. I went to my daughters house. She has a basement family room that isn't being used....the large floor space is perfect for laying out the backing (a couple of straight pins helps keep it snug agains the carpet....then the batting is smoothed over the backing.....my daughter helped me drop the front on top of it all. Then I sit at my leisure and pin it all together with safety pins. I have also been offered the atrium at the local library on a Sunday afternoon if needed. I know some people use a church hall.

@Morleyhunt I have to move furniture back on my living room floor and it works all right. My biggest problem is quilting on my machine. It's so hard to keep the quilt straight.

I love the teal blue squares on this quilt the most. I love blue colors but pink is my favorite. I have curtains for my daughter's room that are very long. I am going to cut them and hem then by hand. It will be a slow process.

I made this pink quilt for my granddaughter. My daughter loves butterflies. This quilt was started on November 14, the day after my daughter learned that Sandra was waiting for her. The quilt was finished by December 1st. The day of her baby shower.

@Morleyhunt This is amazing. I would use that and then hang it on the wall when the baby outgrew it. What a wonderful gift!

I remember this song the Italian lyrics translated "blue, blue, the love is blue". To be honest it's not my favorite colour.

@LadyDuck I like a lot of colours. Those colours would make for a pleasing combination in a quilt.

What is your favourite colour? I make many colourful quilts, but when I'm using scraps....I seem to have more blue than anything else,

I love the colour blue. It actually was started because my 2.5 inch squares didn't fit in their box any longer. This was the quickest way to remove some excess squares.

I like the basic 9-patch blocks. Can use up a lot of scraps that way. Love the stars in the blocks, too. Naaahhhh. I couldn't tell at all that you like blue. I'm looking forward to seeing your shop on Etsy.

I'm looking forward to getting it up and running....I just didn't want to set it up.....go on holidays for a week and hopefully be inundated with sales that I couldn't complete because I wasn't home. Two weeks later won't (hopefully) make that much difference.

No gardening this time of year in Canada....the frozen ground discourages anything from growing until later this month....then my tulips and daffodils will show their heads.

I might be the one to buy it, depending on how much money I have to spend at that moment. This is such a beautiful little quilt! Lord knows I don't need anymore blankets but that probably won't stop me! Still, the money might!

@Morleyhunt It is quite the prcoess. My mother made several quilts. I have one of them now. It needs some TLC. My aunt quilts as well, though not as often as she used to.

@Morleyhunt My mother and aunt used to like making those quilts. My aunt made us one for a wedding gift, we married in early October and it was all done in rust colours, it was so beautiful.

Thank you. When making a scrap quilt, sometimes it is finding the balance. You often need one fabric(colour) to anchor everything else.

Nice. Blue isn't my favorite color, but the sky is blue and I can look at that for hours especially when it's decorated with different types of cloud structures. I doubt my sewing machine could handle all of that, but maybe it will be a try later when I retire. I could always do baby quilts so I can get some quilting fever going and still get projects done quickly, maybe. I've made one quilt in my lifetime, I have a picture of one I found while cleaning windows last year. It may be called cathedral windows? The other was a log-cabin quilt pattern. That one never was completed. About half a full-sized bed's width and length was completed but nothing more. I was moving around a lot back then and it wasn't in the forecast.

Your blue quilt is pretty. I enjoy making quilts and I would like to start another one when I get other projects out of the way. I have a lot of pink scraps and I want to use them up. I'd like another color to go with them.I think maybe a yellow. What do you think?
