Wild ride.....

Amusement parks, with the dawn of spring summer coming, its getting to be time to plan the road trip. In most cases, the family road trip or travels include a trip to the local amusement park. Pictured is the old Wild Mouse ride at Lagoon amusement park in Farmington Utah. I remember this ride well, I went on it at 9 years old during a company picnic of my mothers. This ride was while fun, but an absolute nightmare. The car went up the hill, then as your going down, you zip sharply around those corners, like a mouse maze. The only restraint was just a well worn velvet strap that crossed over your head, thats it. If it was not for my mom holding me firmly in place, I just about fell out of the ride on those corners. The ride itself was torn down 2 years later, only to be put up by a newer more safer version of the ride 15 years after the original was torn down. What are you're wild ride memories?

Wow! That really freaked me out. It's good they built a safer version of it. I'm surprised it got accepted in the first place!

The original was built in the 1960s, long before safety was even thougt of. How did we ever survive?

@librarygeek1980 gosh! I'm thinking that we do not know the entire story. I know I shouldn't but i can't avoid the though of other little kids being hurt in the past because of the carelessness of some rollercoaster supervisor.

@jesroash the 60s were a very different time, it was just the way it was built

I took my child on a roller coaster, and she almost fell out of it! It was just a roller coaster that went up (not too high), down and around. It did not do loops or go upside down. There was a safety bar across our lap, which I thought would be safe, because as I said it didn't go upside down or anything like that. Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me that there were no doors on the car, so when we whipped around the corner, she almost fell out of the side of the car. I grabbed her and held on with all my might for the rest of the ride, but I was terrified the entire time.

@librarygeek1980 You would think there would have been, especially since it was a Six Flags Theme Park, which are supposed to be safe and "family friendly".

I know, it's terrible, there should be a warning sign on those things...

That does sound wild and frightening. All the ones I went on seemed felt wild but seemed safe. Too old now to have my body jerked around like that. Though older, my husband still loves wild rides.

We went to the amusement park last year just before new year's eve. I tried one of their new rides and I can say that it is one of the mos thrilling rides I have ever tried. It is like a pendulum ride but more extreme.

Pendulum rides don't bother me as much as the up and down ones do, especially the ones that you get flipped upside down...

We have carnivals that come to town about once a year during the summers here other than that we don't have much of those around here to speak of.

We have the fairs, plus 1 carnival that comes every year to the main park in May. The above mentioned amusement park is the only one in Utah. It's also the oldest.

I was never the adventurous type, I always chose the milder rides.
