Starting Another Journal

I've been a journal keeper since I learned to write my thoughts down. I think I was about 9 when my sister gave me my first diary. It was just a small notebook with the Little Twin Stars (Sanrio) on the cover. Decades later and I'm still an avid diarist. I believe I finished 3 journals last year. I just use cheap notebooks for journaling. Sometimes I buy the good brands that are on sale. This new one that I'm using is a mid-priced Moleskine knockoff/clone sold by a local bookstore. It's perfectly stitched and it lays flat. Love it. I write with a gel pen most days, but when I'm feeling fancy I use a fountain pen. Do you keep a journal? ** Image credit: Pexels /Pixabay

I do journal. I have a big plastic bin full of all my journals from the past 40+ years. I don't journal regularly anymore. I guess I spill my guts on this site instead. LOL!

Do you go through those old journals from time to time? I sometimes do that even though some entries are painful to read. I guess it's okay that you now do more 'journal spilling' on this site. It's great to have people respond to your thoughts.

Keeping a journal is supposed to be a very healthy practice. Checking back to see what was happing years ago is also supposed to be a healthy practice! Just sounds like fun to me.

Yes, journaling is one of those activities that help me maintain my equilibrium. I don't really go through old entries often, but I enjoy going through scrap journals of my kids' little mementos and baby photos.

Used to keep a journal back in the day but decided to ditch it when I decided that I want to keep my thoughts to myself.

I have a friend who used to journal a lot. But along the way, she developed some inhibitions and didn't want to share anymore. Now she's just posting pictures and she's okay with that. :)

I used to keep a journal too. However, when I reread some of them, I noticed that I mostly journal sad happenings in my life. From then on, I stopped. Now, myLot is my journal just as it was also in Bubblews before.

@almostoveryou I guess it's because I don't want to remember those sad moments in my life. I now only want happy moments. That is good that you are a lot happier now.

Perhaps you needed to "purge" your thoughts and feelings at that time and that's okay. Some people use journaling to get by certain stages in life or to overcome trauma or grief. I'm like that when it comes to writing poetry. I wrote a lot of poems during my "angsty" days of youth. But now that I'm a lot happier and more positive, I can't seem to whip up anything. Hehe.

I hope you try journaling again. It's great to have that quiet time with just pen and paper. :)
