I do not want to play any silly games.

Several years ago I opened a Facebook account, mainly to stay in contact with an ex work colleague who now spends a lot of time in Spain. It did not take long for a few people to notice my presence and soon I was receiving friend requests. Now I have a moderate number of contacts there, although certainly not a large ungainly number.
For some bizarre reason I am constantly being bombarded with messages stating that specific contacts have invited me to play some game, usually Candy Crush. Despite not even knowing what this game is, it does not interest me because I have no desire to play any games.
If someone enjoys playing such games then that is fine, but why on Earth do people keep insisting on trying to persuade me to play?
I even wonder whether these invitations are genuine, or just some software generated system designed to boost player numbers.

I play Candy Crush I have to have 'silly times ' too I have been playing for years and years, in the doctorì's waiting room, at the bus stop, on the beach in the summer, while listening to talk-shows on television etc.
Occasionally when I open the game there is a message which says 'invite your friends' but I ALWAYS skip that page and never send out invitations (unless someone asks me to invite them to play). I hope that others are not receiving invitations from me as it is not my intention to disturb anyone and if they have received them then it was an automatic invite and not ione that I sent.
I do sebd free lives though but only to those who are already playing the game.

@mysdianait No it is not and is very bad practice for a major company.

You can set up your games so that these request only go to certain people or to all of your friend's list. It could be software generated. Facebook does some weird things. I get notifications all the time and I just go in occasionally and mark them read so so many don't accumulate.

@celticeagle Yes, deceitful on behalf of Facebook since the need to select players only can easily be overlooked.

These invitations are not from those who you think they are. I too used to get them. I consistently ignored them and now I am free from them. I never play games on FB

@Asylum Just ignore them. After a while they will - whoever they are - stop sending them to you.

I'm pretty sure it is a software generated system designed to increase player numbers. The creators of Candy Crush probably worked out some kind of deal with Facebook to allow them to promote their game to all the Facebook users. I used to get requests like that on a daily basis, but you can go into your settings and stop those type of invitations from coming to you.

I get a lot of those requests too. I have no interest in playing games on Facebook. I'm usually on to check a few messages and posts, and then off I go. I guess a lot of people like it so much they do it for hours. However, sometimes people just don't understand why I don't play with them. I explain: I don't play games with anyone!

Sometimes the requests are generated by facebook themselves they get a bit annoying but if you ignore them eventually they stop!

@garymarsh6 I must admit that nobody has asked me for a cow or a pig yet, not even a yak or two.

@Asylum You are lucky perhaps to have missed something about a stupid farm game. I forget what it is called I was inundated with messages to send them a cow or a pig or some other daft thing! Infuriating beyond belief!

For the most part they are genuine, but I will usually hit the tab that shows which friends actually play the game or have before, to place my requests there. I rarely bother with requesting anything anyway. I get those requests too and just pretty much ignore my notifications because I don't want to wade through them.
My daughter will look over my shoulder and say, mom, you have over one hundred notification. My reply would be, So? I know what most of them are. Unfortunately, if they are actual questions, then I've missed those too.

I think the gamers get bonuses for referring friends? I don't play games and get annoyed sometimes with the requests but I don't get them often anymore I think the people who do play though can just send a random request to all their contact members and they get stuff in the game for doing it

I used to play facebook games. It was hard to find anyone on my friend list to play with me so I decided to quit playing them. Lately I haven't been on facebook. The games are designed where you can't get to another level without your friends' help. That is why I quit.

I joined Facebook a year or so but i don't understand the concept. If you can chat, why not go to a site and get paid for it? I prefer sites like this and I am not interested in games either...unless I can earn something.
