How long does it take you to read a book?

Reading is one of my passions. I like to read every day, although sometimes I don't get a chance. I've got a bunch of books on my TBR list that I'm trying to work through, yet the more I read the more books I add.
Usually, it takes me about a month or two to finish reading a book. Sometimes it takes a bit longer due to the length of the book and my schedule, yet a little over a month is the average time it takes. Although, if it's a short story, then I can usually finish that in a week or two.

Depends on how much the book gets my attention.
For example, "The Hunger Games" saga (3 books)... I read in 2 days.

Wow! You're a fast reader if you read The Hunger Games in 2 days. You also make a good point about the book keeping your attention. I find if I like a book I can read it quickly, but if not it seems I just drag along reading it.

@dramagirl26 I was on vacation so I had plenty of free time.
Well... I think the time it took me the longest to finish reading a book was 11 days (because the book was bad and boring).

@TheInvisibleMan Do you mind if I ask what book it was?

@dramagirl26 sometimes the books are such a cliffhanger that I finish then in just a few days...Like I completed Kane and Abel of around 450 pages in just 4 days..

@imravi Length is an important factor in reading time. If a story's short, it takes me about a week.

@dodo19 I try to read every day, even if it's just a few pages. My schedule and the story plays a role in the length of time it takes to finishe reading.

@Debscrochet Between work and other duties, it can be hard to find time to read.

It can easily take me a month or more to read a decent sized book because I spend far too much time online and don't leave myself enough time for books. I also have a nasty habit of leaving books half read because I find something more interesting before I finish the one I'm reading. I'm trying to improve my rate this year. Hopefully I'll succeed because I've got so many books sitting around waiting to be read.

@Gina145 Same thing applies to me. I spend so much time online that I don't read much because my eyes need a rest. Plus, I also have a bad habit of stopping books only to start a new one.

@dramagirl26 I am so far, taking longer than a month. I need to put down the laptop more often!

@paigea Me too. That's a major reading why I haven't done much reading. I spend too much time working online, then once I finish my eyes are tired and I don't feel like doing much.

A week. I average 3 chapters a day and finish 1-4 books at a time. It might be a bit longer, due to life's obstacles or the pages of the book, like Justin Cronin's the Twelve and Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth series, which took me a bit longer like 2-3 weeks. Both books had over 500 pages.

@DianneN I understand other activities can play a factor in if you get any reading done. I try to read a little each week too.

I don't read books anymore. Use to and it would take me about 1.5 weeks to finish all depended on how busy i would be every day.

@Courtlynn I used to read a lot, but with me being busy with work I don't do it as much.

It depends of course on available time and being in the mood. The biggest factors are page length and print size.

@JohnRoberts Those are good factors to take into consideration. Page length and time are the two main factors for me.

Usually anywhere from 2-6 days. Then again most of what I "read" are audiobooks, and those can go quite quickly...

@FayeHazel Audiobooks are easier to get through quickly. Do you find it's easier to listen to a book than read one?

@Kandae11 Wow! 3 days is a quick time to finish a book. I wish I could finish it in that amount of time. Btw, I also take those factors into consideration in the time it takes to finish a book.

Great topic @dramagirl26 . I like reading aswell. But because of work i am reading less and less everyday.
Let's come to the topic. It depends on the book that i might be reading. But usualy i do read a book (a novel let's say) in 4-5 days.

@Oltoholic Sometimes I don't read much because I'm busy working online a lot and don't want to strain my eyes too much. But on weekends, I catch up on reading.
