Our topic at the moment in our nursery is growing .... We have planted seeds and beans and this week we were thinking about baked beans. We had a story about the way baked beans are made and we tipped a couple of tins of baked beans into a tray and let the children feel them ... a great way for them to explore them and say if they were cold or hot wet or dry smooth or rough big or small they said their hands were shiny when the sauce was on them... They got to press them and squeeze them... Afterwards we had baked beans on toast to eat.

Awwwww! That sounds like a fun, hands-on lesson. I haven't had baked beans in years, and never on toast. Is it really good?

Baked beans on toast are a staple of British children's teatime! Yummy.

@Poppylicious there is a tea place here that does a British tea. We had high tea but cream tea was also an option. No beans on that menu though.
