It's time for ours, now. We usually have it around 6:30PM or 7:00PM. It's also a time for us to talk. The kids share stories about school, I share stories about whatever I get from MyLot. We turn off all our gadgets and make sure no phones are on the table. May we continue to have dinner bonding like these. C'mon, let's eat! Kain na tayo.

We always put every electronic gadget away (TV included) during breakfast, lunch and dinner time. This special moments must be enjoyed talking.

Right. We try to be consistent about it and tell the kids that we'd like to have good conversations.

@Beatburn It is the best way to go. We need to have a good conversation at least once a day. I like those times without electronics around.

Great to read something like this and my kids although grown up now donĀ“t use their tablets or Iphones so much anymore when they come to eat. I discovered that my youngest still likes to play after all this time and we were playing a silly game on and off. Just to make me laugh and him as well. Much more important is the communication the human one.

@Beatburn So right and although I try to get the Television put off we still speak anyway so that is better than nothing. They are losing the notion to have their head stuck in the Iphone all day now. Right now they are more into other things that are nothing to do with Iphones like Sport and their Girlfriends and so on.

Thanks. We live in a digitally connected world that is supposed to bring us closer to each other but sometimes, if abused, can even break us apart.

We usually have our main meal at that time too. I'm glad that you chat as a family during dinner, that's the good old-fashioned thing to do.

Yes, it's a tried and tested formula. Growing up, I remember that we would also have arguments over dinner. I guess that's part of it.

My wife went to a coffeeshop last week. She noticed that it was quiet even if there were plenty of customers, Almost everyone was on their phone or tablet.

@Beatburn That's not having an enjoyable lunch. I find that disrespectful to the person you are with. It tells me they would rather be with someone else and be somewhere else than where they are.

@just4him While technology is helping us get connected to others faster, it seems to be making it more impersonal. It shouldn't be, right?

We have our dinner by 9 p.m. but we never switch off our gadgets like mobile and laptop. If any calls come in between having food,we attend it. If not very urgent we keep it fast.
