I struggle with this a lot. I am trying to make it a goal to buy less gift cards for birthday and holiday gifts and more...creative and thoughtful things.
One of my good friends birthday just passed so I am trying to figure out what to buy her..... that would be creative, cute and thoughtful.
Yes. This is where I draw blanks. She likes books. But who ever knows what books a person has read or not?
Cute ideas welcome. Are you a creative gift giver?

I try to think of something that they would like, or that they're "into".

Booklovers might like a gift card best, since it's easy to assume that they're always eyeing a new book to buy. ;o)
Other suggestions: bookmarks, book lamp, fancy page clips (they seem to be en vogue these days), a journal that can serve as reading log, a mug, or a backpack

I like your way of thinking, creative gifts are what give gifts their meaning. Two ideas pop into my mind for your friend. The first is book ends, something we don't really see anymore, though that would only make sense if she reads hard copy books, something else we don't see a lot of these days. The other idea is more unique; a book journal? Somewhere she could write about the books she reads, what she likes about the plots, the twists and turns, or how she connects with the characters. One day she might even sit down and read it, reminiscing about all the wonderful stories she'd forgotten about.
