Chongqing is a city in my country and since it locates in mountains, so its nickname is Mountain City. And therefore different buildings go up and down. And it is easy to lose your way. I travelled there twenty years ago but I didn't have a deep impression to it already. Now I look at its current photos, the change is so huge. Now there is subways there and one of the lines even go through a building. How interesting it is! I have many questions to this. Perhaps one day I shall visit there again and figure it out by myself

Wow, that is a clever use of space.. I would hate to be the tenant above (or below) trying to sleep or talk on the phone when the train goes chugging through it though.

I don't know whether it is noicy there. But the advantage is the people can go to the subway station real soon

I pity those who live in that building.

I heard it is not as noisy as normal subways because its wheels are made from rubber. I think they had considered the noise when they made this subway line there.

@LadyDuck That's a good point I think I will keep my doubts until I see this subway in person

@youless Even cars have rubber wheels but I am sure that you hear them if they pass very close to your house.

It seems really amusing that a railway line goes through a building. I have never heard or seen this kind of picture.

I think with the modern facilities, the people of Chong Qing walk much lesser than ever. There was a time when everyone knows that Chong Qing residents walk a lot.

I think there are quite a lot of lifts and escalators there today. I think I can imagine it like the escalators in the subway stations in Russia or the escalators in Hong Kong Ocean Park.

@youless It is good for the old people who have knee problem. But it is not good for the young people since they will get lazy and exercise lesser and lesser.

That is a rare feat. Hope they would have also taken care of noise pollution. Here there are homes that have wells inside the house.

No, the subway was not available yet when I travelled there. I heard that this subway is not so noisy since its wheels are made from rubber.

The picture is so amazing. Like other commenters here I too think about the noise when the train passes. How the people handle the same, may be they used with it.

Won't it be noisy every time the train passed by? But it still interesting to see something like that.

I really have such kind of worry. It is amazing that this subway is built like there. I wonder whether there would be a better choice?

I think the first subway line was finished in my city about 18 years ago. Chongqing would have the subway service later.

That's good . Technology is developing so fast you may not be able to recognize a place after 6 months and you are talking before 20 years.

cool architecture, like something out of a science fiction story. I wonder what the practical purpose of building it that way is.

It seems it is just a building for people to live.
