Is giving up a sign of weakness?

What do you think about that thought? I particularly disagreed completely because, speaking from my own experience, I already gave up some things and some people in my life because I knew that I was insisting and going the wrong way. This has nothing to do with being "weak".

Sometimes, we have to give up for our good. It is wisdom, not weakness.

I agree- if it's only doing you harm and if it is influencing you in a bad way- give it up!

I think it can actually be a good and healthy thing to give up. I believe it can actually be a healthy emotion sometimes. I mean if you try something and it becomes clear that it isn't going to work out, then you have to go to plan B.

If things are not getting better, then it is fine to give up and find other options.

For me, it is not all about being weak. It is about being able to let go of things that we think is not healthy anymore with our daily undertakings.

Most people want to win out but walking away from the hopeless/time wasting/depressing is surely often a positive.

I think it depends on what you're giving up and why. Nobody is going to say that giving up an addiction is a sign of weakness! If something isn't going the way you planned and giving up something will help to get you back on track, then give it up. I have given up jobs because they were actually causing more problems than I had before I took them on. I gave up on a relationship because my children and I were always unhappy. I'd say that these things take strength. On the other hand, you do get people who give up everything they start without really trying. That is a sign, I think, of laziness rather than weakness.

I don't think it is a sign of being weak. If you still insist in doing some stupid things, that's called being stubborn When it is the time to let it go, just let it go

Many a time it has happened that I just realize there are things I have to give up because no amount of trying is going to turn things around. You are right that is not weakness it is just facing the facts. Of course if any hope at all glimmers as long as it glimmers I keep on trying.
Next time your found, with your chin on the ground There a lot to be learned, so look around Just what makes that little old ant Think he'll move that rubber...

Sometimes you have to give up certain people or things if they are not working out for you.

this thought makes yourself Weak. When you give up then you lose all power to continue with your life. So I disagree totally.

I don't think giving up is a sign of weakness because if you experienced more about a thing and you know it doesn't work means then why wasting time in continuing the same. In this case giving up is a brilliant activity.

you might be right. In some cases i didn't give up on some people soon enough and I paid for it dearly in the end.
