Making New Friends

I have this habit, apparently, of forming very strong friendships just when I'm getting ready to leave a place and move on to a new adventure. I did it in high school, then again in college, again while working as a singer/actor, and just as myself in the last seven months. I get to know people I want to know forever and then I end up leaving.
What is that:?!
The good thing is that I seem to be able to maintain lifelong friendships, but wow, it gets frustrating to finally find ~my~ people and then have to say, "Oh yeah, I'll be moving to wherever in a couple of months."
It's not that I don't want to get close to people, it just seems to happen. At least I do seem to keep friends forever. I can be grateful for that, eh?

Hey! I've actually been to Wausau! When I worked at a summer repertory theatre up in Hazelhurst, I'd drive to Wausau on my day off and watch two movies in an afternoon. Thanks for reminding me of that. :)

I feel for you. My dad worked on construction his whole life and we moved around so much that I was truly difficult to make friends. The friends I have now are friends I have met after school. I don't live with regret but sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a friend I grew up with from very young age.

I am still friends with someone I knew when I was twelve, but she's the only one who goes back that far. After that, there's a gap until I was twenty-one. From my twenties on I've managed to maintain close friends. The problem has always been being physically far away from most, if not all, of them.
