The end of a long life

My mother-in-law passed away this week at the age of almost 94.
It was a peaceful passing, even though she had heart failure, and over the years, breast cancer and kidney cancer. She was a tough, determined, stubborn little woman.
I think sometimes she survived on sheer willpower alone.
My husband and I drove 1,000 miles, but she died just thirty minutes before we got there. (When we left home, we couldn't commit to a return flight because we didn't know how long we would need to be there.)
My husband is preaching her funeral service and I'm singing "Serenaded by Angels."
Even though we knew it would be soon, it's still strange to know she's really gone.
She lived a very long life and I know she's with Jesus.
And that's a comfort.

I am sorry. I know it was expected but no one is ever really prepared to say goodbye.

I'm always happy for someone who has crossed over, especially after a long life. But we are never really prepared even when the person is ill. We're sad because we miss them. You MIL is blessed to have so many who loved her.

I am so sorry for our loss, no matter how long a life is, when it ends unexpectedly it is always a shock to the system. Faith, however, gives us the strength to carry on in the knowledge that one day we will all be reunited .

My sympathies on the passing of your mother in law. Its sad that you didn't arrive in time to say goodbye but what a wonderful tribute that you will be singing and your husband preaching. I'm sure you will miss her

So sorry about your loss. I was at my mother's side 16 months ago when she passed away. I was also at my mother inlaws side when she passed away twelve years ago. They were both 89 years old.

She saw your father's look in you. It's sad when they don't know us at the end.

May her soul rest in peace. She must be a strong lady to tackle such difficulties at that age.

It's strange when you know it's coming and you really don't want her suffering to continue, but it's still hard.

She definitely had a strong will, but I know a lot of it was God's mercy.
